No child support. They got one garnishment out of him, and now nothing again. I bet he'll just keep quitting jobs as child support enforcement catches up to him and then finding new jobs knowing he's got two months before it happens again ( Read more... )

He'll never become President that way. Doesn't he know he's black and that's a good thing now?

Yeah, well, safe to say I'm on my own with Tyler. I should probably just go to Social Services to help and let them hunt him down for that money. That way, if they can't find him to garnish him, I'll still be getting paid. The thing that sucks with that though, is that they dictate where the money goes. They only allot up to $400 a month for rent for two people in NY. As for food, I'd get around $150 to $200 and I'd only be able to get food. No toilet paper, and other necessities. I can cover with unemployment checks and hopefully a little child care service I just put up fliers for, but it sucks that I can't decide for myself how to distribute that money. Furthermore, for while he's in arrears I would be collecting more then the $600 a month they'd give me. Instead, if they find him, they'd be collecting that $1000 a month and shorting me $400. Where that extra money goes, I don't know, but it seems it doesn't go to the child it's intended for. Further Google research is necessary.

Oh, and not only is he being a dead beat with the money, he hasn't emailed once to ask about the welfare of his child, or made a move to put Tyler on his insurance plan with the new (maybe gone) job. The courts have made him responsible for Tyler's health care, so if I applied for Medicaid or Family Health Plus they'd deny me on the grounds that I'm supposed to be reimbursed for any medical care by Ricky, who had disappeared off the face of the earth. If I can't get Child Support from him, I certainly won't be getting money for medical costs. I'm sure eventually I'd be able to get Family Health Plus, but how long until they decide it's hopeless to go after Ricky?

I don't know, unfortunately. I'll ask around the office to see if any of the attorneys I work with are familiar with family law.
