Who threw the hammer? If you look inside that zoom window in the middle panel, you can see a duck holding a hammer in his beek.~~N

AH,I see now. Things look different when you have been working on it for a few hours at night.

Or maybe you just really like ducks. =]

Either way the window is intended to show that Buddha still had the hammer and he threw it (I thought some people might have forgotten.)

Come to think of it, maybe having eh Aflac duck run in and throw the hammer would have been funnier =]

I just liked the idea of Jesus arming himself up and Buddha just kind of forgetting to set something down, but using it effectively in the end.

Excellent use of the verse by the way. Slightly obscure, and I had to look it up. XD How'd you come across it? :/

I don't read the bible constantly or anything (I was raised religious but have since changed my beliefs.) But the internet is a wonderful place where there are search engines where you can type in things like "hammer" and it will show you all the bible verses with the word hammer in it. This was just a faint idea at the beginning of this strip and fortunately I found a passage that works.

I love obscure bible quotes, because not many people have read the entire bible or know a lot about it, so it is always fun to brign up things that even devout Christians would have to look up =]

I've never read the Bible. Honestly, never had a reason to.

So what's Jeremiah 23:29 or is the verse even that relevant?

Jeremiah 23:29
"Is not my word like fire," declares the Lord, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?"

So the point here is that the hammer metaphorically represents the word of god.

Don't worry, I am by far not a bible freak. That took a bit of online researching before I found a passage that worked.
