Hey, in
remembrance of the attacks of September 11th I figured I could post some pictures from the memorial lights setup last year on this day (they are also on tonight it seems).
From the Trap and Skeet Range, which is now closed for good, we could see a single
beam of light.
among the stars. By the time we made it to Liberty State Park we could look over and make out
two beams.
My favorite picture of the evening is this one from
Jersey City:
We (Andrew, Dave, Eric, and I) then drove into the city to find the source of the lights, in a
parking lot
, which looked like ghosts of the buildings. Looking at the streams of light we could see thousands of moths and other bugs flying around in the
light.
Down closer to the light bugs would instantly combust if they flew too close to the
bulb.
It smelled like barbeque, but it was really just roast insect. The
reflections
on surrounding buildings were pretty fun too. Notice the swarms of insects.
The events of September 11th will forever change the world, but unfortunately for us our administration has not made us safer since then. Hopefully one day we can again be proud to be American.
I'll leave you with these pictures taken in
July, 2001:
