there's no free will blah blah blah. Whatever. I chose what to do with my morning = there is free will. I get what you guys are saying about genetic predisposition (I like carbs) + environment interaction (what kind of carb choices do I have?), and that this is more complex that the quick examples I gave here, but in my everyday life such ( Read more... )

This is why I hate politics. Really I mean it's so ridiculous and I have little faith in any of it! It always feels like picking a lesser of two evils. I voted for Kerry and supported Kerry, no question, but he played the game as much as anyone, especially on the issue of gay marraige. It's all bullshit. I wish they could just be honest instead of trying to please as many people as possible (to get votes). meh.

I really don't know why it's relevant to look at someone's GPA from thirty years ago. Especially when being president is not an academic position at a university. There are past American presidents who didn't even go to university.

& especially since it seems that to people who pursue academic careers, the work done during undergraduate years takes on less and less significance as more post-grad work is done.

indeed. I think in many ways the Dems are just as lame in picking reasons to point fingers as the Reps are. Pretty silly.
