Heroes: Catch Up. Bigtime. (random thoughts on eps 1-6)

Nov 06, 2007 18:09

(This is way old, and I just hadn't gotten around to posting it...)

So, I have no idea where to start. My heart is racing, breath quickened, euphoria prolonged.

So, I think this will probably deteriorate into incoherency pretty quickly. All the hype, all the harassment from everyone I know was definitely all true. I am in love with Heroes twice over, now.

So, my thoughts on th first five episodes of Heroes:

THE BENNETT SITUATION
The Bennetts are now the Butler's of California, and Claire gets yet another horribly good looking man in her life. As if being indestructible wasn't enough, the girl also gets the majority of the nation's hotties flocking to her!

I love Claire this season, she's clearly grown up a bit since her cheerleading days. I love the obvious conflict within her, her desire to be extraordinary versus her father's insistence that she must be the opposite. Her need to explore her abilities, discover her limits and find out if the can be used for the greater good. I love her interaction in class, that we can see she's considered how much good she could do with the help of the medical community. I admire her integrity, her spunk, and her defiance.

New boy! West is made of so much awesome I don't even know what to do when he's on screen. You can tell from the get go there's something more than just a Californian version of Zach (beloved gayboy, how I shall miss thee!) and he certainly doesn't disappoint. I love his in your face approach to Claire, his knowledge, and his power! I don't care if it was terribly hollywood, I melted when he took her in his arms and shot into the air. I like West. The end.

Daddy-oh-so-cool! I love him, but I don't like his acronym. koalabear06 explaind to me that HRG is for Horn Rimmed Glasses and I think its stupid. As such, he is Daddy-O and that is that. More important than his very stupid nickname, his performance this season is outstanding. I love his paternal vigilantism, I love his badass assistant manager status. If only I could break my manager's finger and not get fired! I am so into this blurred line he walks, his vendetta against the company sometimes seeming overzealous. I like that, unlike Prison Break, it's questionable whether or not the Company is a truly evil entity. Sometimes, Daddy-o's vehemence when he talks to Mohinder makes him seem like a bit of a zelot, but then you see his very tender, paternal moments with Claire and you understand his motivation. He's clearly a morally grey man, but then, I think we all know how I feel about them...

Also, I think Mr Muggles has been simply brilliant this season. The subtle nuances of his performance and second to none. I hope he gets more screentime.

THE BEST REASON TO LEGALIZE GAY MARRIAGE SINCE HUMAN RIGHTS

Yeah, that's right. Mohinder and Matt should be god damn poster boys for gay marriage. I love how domestic they are together, from Mohinder's "someone's grumpy when they don't get their sleep" to Molly's adorable "you never cook. I miss Mohinder. He cooks." to Matt's unbelieveably endearing bumbling attempts to "figure it out."

I love the three of them. I want to be part of their liberal family. I think its just amazing that Molly gets to be with the two men who have saved her life, I love how she chastises Matt in small scenes of role reversal, and I love the way the two of them coo over Molly (and worry, and put themselves on the line for her...) especially when she has her nightmare episodes.

Uhm. Yeah. Gay marriage for everyone! :)

THE PETRELLI'S IN ALL THEIR DELICIOUS GLORY

You thought it couldn't happen, but it did! Those hot brothers just got hotter! I guess it comes from a radioactive fraternal skydiving trip circa end of season one. They're totally nuclear hot. That's right, I said it. Move over plutonium, you got nothing on these fellas.

Okay, I'm done with the drooling...

Nathan is so awesome as a broken man. Alcoholic, with the beard, shit man. I want to devour that morally grey man. Not so grey I suppose, since he did save the world...either way, I love his tortured soul. I still haven't seen episode four, which I suspect has the season's first real chunk of time for him, but him and Parkman tag teaming Matt's Bad Dad? Fuck me. They are so smarmy together, and watching him discharge that rifle?

Shit. I'm drooling again...

Peter. What is there to say about little Pete Petrelli? He is absolutely delectable with that nice new haircut (perhaps shorter to imply that he's only recently grown it back after exploding?), frequent shirtless scenes and equally frequent flannel shirts. I swear, maybe it's because I'm Canadian, but flannel and jeans is just about the sexiest thing a man could wear. Aside from his makeup and wardrobe improvements, I enjoy a less emo Peter these days. It's refreshing. I got mighty sick of his "Imma blow up New York. Boo Hoo." last season, he is guilt free and has that lovely, sexy kind of dumb look on his face while he's rediscovering his powers. Plus, I love his irish lady and her space monkey brother. Not sure what I think about this electric blondie bear, but I am intrigued.

Mama Petrelli, well... I just love her, same as last season. I couldn't breathe during the scene with her and Nathan, how indignant rage at her son when he tells her she's evil (and god damn the way Nathan said it was enough to make you die...) I love that even though they clearly are not each others number one fans, they still have that closeness even in their hatred of one another. Phenomenal.

I love this family more and more each day.

SYLAR: STABBED AND SEXY

Okay. Hi. This man is so completely sick and twisted and fucked up, but he is also lethally sexy. I don't know why, exactly. I love his devious, desperate, disease ridden ass. I'm glad they ditched Candice, and that way, too. Clever, good stuff. Plus, I reckon' it's mighty devious of this here company getting Mohinder to work on a cure for Sylar! How sick and twisted.
Also, kind of interested what will happen with the syphilis sibs and Sylar. Border hopping in a very aggressive way, isn't that like, a big hint that this guy is NOT COOL? Maya, I have decided, is a fucking moron. But, with a sexy serial killer in your stolen car, I guess common sense goes out the window.

HIRO AND KENSEI: MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE

I love Hiro. I love Kensei. They are awesome. That is all.
...oh yes, and I think it's just hilarious that Kensei calls Hiro 'carp' :)

Uhmmmm...I think that's everything I can think of right now. YAY HEROES!
