As to #2 Well, I didn't really ask for permission. When I first contemplated doing this, there were a great many things I tried to slyly bring up with Meredith over the course of many different conversations. One of them was, if she wanted me to ask permission, and if so, of whom... Turns out that she didn't want that happen. She's an adult and doesn't like the idea of a suitor needing to be approved by Daddy. Fine enough
