There's a cute name for when certain characters show up and totally ruin a television show with their unholy presence. It is called "jumping the shark" and it can be done many different ways, but this list focuses on those times when a show feels the need to bring a specific type of character in to 'mix things up' but really just creates something

I surprized you mentioned the little girl from Step By Step but left out "Little Nickie" from Fresh Prince. same idea

Yeah, Little Nicky did come along and do much the same thing, but I didn't find him nearly as irritating as Lilly, and the writers on "Fresh Prince" had a habit of breaking the fourth wall and acknowledging their silliness, which somehow allowed them to get away with it better, so I guess I'm alright with him.

Although, I AM half-tempted to include Cubert Farnsworth for the same reasons, but I'll let it slide, because I don't think Cubert actually ruined "Futurama"... yet.
