I feel obliged to comment.

During Hair!, Ben Baked once asked me if I believed in love. I told him no.
I do believe in something like love. I just don't really believe in romance. People often confuse the two.

I've always imagined you believe something akin to what I do: love is great, but romance isn't.

For me, love becomes something more of an understand that two people are mutually attracted to each other, mature enough to make compromises for each other's needs, and may or may not be capable to living together, having sex, or being intimate in other ways.

I think the search for love is paramount, though I'd agree with Rachel that you can't just go looking for it.

However, I usually tell people that I don't believe in love because they tend to assume I mean the romantic, mushy, sentimental stew of foolish passion and passive dependency that passes for love these days.

I like using David Bowie's distinction between love and loving. And I quote

"All I have is my love of love,
and love is not loving."

I suppose my weirdly capitalized, cryptic entry inadvertently threw me into that category. So, clarification that I agree with you. Ixne on the romance so often passing.
