Ariel, who had used the occasion of going dancing and the big fat lie she had told Elphaba about having a favorite dress reminiscent of her skin color to get herself even more clothes, had been expecting a bit...different kind of dancing and was so not dressed for this.
However, she didn't seem to mind in the least, bouncing to the beat and not even caring if it threatened the amazing job the hands had done on her hair. "This was a great idea!" she called out over the music. Although Christian was right next to her and they weren't even inside yet, it seemed terribly necessary. "I love this music!"
Plus, he looked so cute just bobbing along. She couldn't wait to get inside; how come this line had to be so long? Super lame.
Christian was getting the impression -- just from glancing about -- that Ariel was, perhaps, a touch overdressed.
Not that he minded. The long skirt suited her, and his own shirt and vest didn't seem to blend, either. (They were getting a few looks from the others in the line.) "I'm glad!" he shouted back at her. "I'm still getting to know modern music, but this seems like it'll be easy to dance to!"
"It does!" shouted Ariel, who, really, didn't seem to find the need to wait to get inside to really start dancing. She couldn't help it; her body just sort of started to move a little on its own, as if the thumping bass just pushed it along. "There's so much and it's all so different and wonderful! Jono's been teaching me a lot, but he hasn't played me anything like this before!"
