feel-good

Nov 07, 2002 11:12

After industriously getting up on time to go to my 9am lecture, I discovered to my delight that my 10am was cancelled. Hurrah! My reward for a good deed - I actually have the rest of the day to do justice to my essay. This is a cause for celebration ( Read more... )

Unfortunately no; this one I just got free with my new mobile phone. I'm not a photographer in any sense of the world. I just feel that words are inadequate sometimes - I just want to show you.

As for not being able to see the beauty in things - is it a matter of trying? I suppose it depends on mood, in a way. I'm rarely able to look at the sky without being touched, in one way or another. It has quite a scary influence on my moods.

i definately agree it's a matter of trying, i guess i just have to try very hard at the moment and it's sometimes easier to not bother and lose yourself in not looking properly.
and also, it's having the time to look properly. or rather allowing yourself the time.

i still have a letter i wrote to you on my bedroom floor. it's been there for ages. maybe it's time to buy some stamps!

I'm not sure I do think trying has anything to do with it, really. Surely you can't be deliberately touched by something - that's the point of wonder, that it takes you by surprise. You can open yourself to it, I suppose, and you can be determined not to see beauty in anything ... but can you be determined to see beauty in everything? Isn't that a little fake? Isn't the point that it's something outside of yourself, something you catch a glimpse of? I don't know, I'm not phrasing this very well.

ooh, letters .... I'm behind in my letter-answering but so long as you don't mind waiting a week or so for a reply, I'd love to read it ... letters are meant to be sent. They aren't really letters if they're not :)

contented isn't the word ... stressed, overworked, sleep-deprived, yes ... but then all in this perfectperfect environment, so that somehow, somewhere, it's worth it. I haven't been comfortable since I got here, not really. It's a rollercoaster. Highs and lows. This morning was exquisite, and I got a first on my prat crit and had an amazing supervision; but I haven't finished my essay yet, haven't stopped working since 9am and will have to continue till tonight, probably, my room needs tidying and I have laundry to do ... endless endless things. But yes. Worth it. This is the most beautiful place in the world.
