The difference between a gun and a tree is a difference of tempo. The tree explodes every spring, but the recoil hits you in autumn - like a wave of pressure to the gut, leaving you aching and utterly without equilibrium.

Or perhaps it's just sleep-deprivation and stress. Either way, I can't make sense of anything.

(misquotation from Ezra Pound)

The other thing about trees is they always fire on full-auto.

that would sound sinister if I didn't love trees so much.

it might be fun to have to go round and switch them on, at the beginning of march each year, say. A designated group whose duty it was to pull the triggers of trees and watch them start to bloom. I'd like that.

of course not! I've decided you're a star already, what with your Grimm love and pretty words and the fact that, well, you're a darling (ie. nice to me - see how fickle I am?)
