Just finished reading Half-Blood Prince yesterday, and I thought I might give my two cents on it. I'm not a huge obsessed fan of the Harry Potter domain but I cannot deny that I am mildly intrigued by some of its characters, but put-off by many more. This book was definitely not my favorite, its handling of the character's situations were very messy and in the end, quite meaningless in my opinion. Harry's whole fiasco with the Half-Blood Prince's notes ended up having minimal effect on the entire plot. So what if dun dun dun, Snape (greasy slimy Sonuvabitch) was the Half-Blood Prince? It didn't change the fact that he is as nasty as ever and murdered Dumbledore. The entire book felt like it was leading up to Dumbledore's demise, but why? To make Harry realise that he can't rely on any other person to help him, that he is alone in facing his "task". So the entire book topped off by a dramatic death scene was just so that Harry can be illustrated as a lone prophesized hero? Dumbledore's death was over a meaningless cause as well. After weakening himself and dying only to discover that the HOrcrux he fought to obtain was FAKE. This leaves the reader at a depressing (which I have nothing against, I'm sure JKR didn't want it to be all sunshine and smiles either) and irritatingly unconclusive end. Who is R.A.B? Many speculate its Regulus Black, but that just opens up the next book's plot to surround deeply on the "why?" And surely, an entirely new character wouldn't be created near the ultimate ending? I just don't know how its all going to end. There seems to be a lot that Harry has to do, destroy all the remaining Horcruxes after finding them first, and THEN destroy dear ol'Voldy himself. I have a pessimistic feeling that that outline sounds very much like a brainless action/adventure. Then there is Snape. Many speculate that he is still "good." but I refuse to believe so, he killed Dumbledore I do not see how he can redeem himself after that. But I agree it is unsettling to think that Dumbledore was wrong about his trust all this time. Whatever, Snape is still a slimy piece of turd (I don't care HOW many fangirls say he is hot, because he is SO NOT). To sum it all up, HBP was a very long introduction to the 7th book, complete with pointless teenage snogging and bickering and angry canaries. Although I do believe that there were some highlights to this book. Harry is much more mature. I enjoyed how he retorted the Minister with more intelligence and less teenage whiny-angst. Even though Harry seems to have grown into this maturity rather abruptly. Harry is also waaay obsessive over Draco's scheming...or perhaps Draco himself? ;D. That's not a highlight, but to some...it might. Another highlight was the insight into Lord Voldemort's past. It was interesting to understand more of his background but again, it didn't really lead anywhere except prep Harry on how he must go about killing the bastard. And my personal favorites about this book (both are extremely subplot, but what the hell): Luna Lovegood's commentary (I love her she is teh awesome), and RemusxTonks XD (don't kill me). Yes I admit I have been a fan of RemusxSirius, but I love Tonks as well, and this swings for me too. My reasons for continuing reading HP after the fourth book was Remus and Sirius anyways. And now its for Remus, Sirius (I don't care if he's dead), Tonks, and Luna. I love them dearly. Now then, what about Draco Malfoy? What fate is to be endured by this little pansy? Well...I DO have my own speculations...
In the 7th book, Harry on one of his quests to destroy a Horcrux will come face to face with Draco. Enmity will rise and they shall raise their wands intent on inflicting PAIN. But then emotions will soar among the blasts of unforgivable curses, Harry will exclaim how he will do anything to avenge his parents', Sirius', and Dumbledore's deaths! Draco will be all "RAAAGRRHAOAAA!" and Will tearfully yell how he has to save his parents! Then they find themselves both with each others wands pointed only a few centimeters away from each other's faces. A heartwrenching sensation will swoop over them as they both drop their wands and snog each other senseless. Ginny will be all *gasp* O_O!!!!! and run into Luna. Luna will pat Ginny on the back soothingly and say in her whispy, dazed voice "there, there...there will always be plenty of turnips roaming."
eheheheh.......well, as quoted by my friend "HBP felt like a huge badly written fanfiction." Well now, that's a bit harsh, but I have to admit HBP WAS very much in service of fans *cough*Harryobsessedw/Draco*cough*. And therefore, who KNOWS about the 7th book. For all we know, the above COULD very well happen. ;D
on a different note: I got a 5 on my Ap art history exam! woo! I only got a 3 on my AP NSL exam, but what the hell, its passing! I passed! yaaay!
