OH, MY HURTING BOYS!

So Dean's being an absolute DICK, and I don't care that he was under the influence of whatever demonic truth serum he was under---nobody hurts my Sammy like that! Vicious words, hurled to inflict maximum emotional damage. And they did. By the time Sam clocked Dean in the face, I was so ready for it to happen. Dean fucking deserved it.

It's funny, but if I were a writer on the show, I'd want Dean to somehow bring up all Sam's past stupidity, and I'd want Sam to bring up Amy when Dean defends Benny. But seeing them so angry, so hateful, and so bent on hurting the other was just...painful. It made me want to read at least 20 hurt/comfort fics to wipe those images out of my brain. Yet these issues MUST be addressed (especially if this is the final season), so I don't really know another way. I was unprepared, I suppose. The Winchesters don't deal with feelings, after all, so I assumed they just would continue not to. And sure enough, it took SEX POLLEN (well, not really, but same concept) to force the characters to confront these issues. Gah!

Loved seeing Garth, but I knew Bobby, and he's no Bobby. I MISS BOBBY. And it looks like Sam is majorly in love with this Amelia (third Amelia on the show so far---Jimmy Novak's wife: Amelia. The rugaru Sam didn't want to kill but Dean had to? His pregnant wife: Amelia. Just sayin'.) He can't stop replaying their relationship in his head, which is a sure sign he hasn't let go. We don't know how he left things with her because the writers didn't show us, but I'm willing to bet he intends to go back to her when he and Dean wrap things up. And I was right: looks like he told her everything about Dean.

Here's hoping Dean gets his shit back together and grows the fuck up, that either the makeup people and/or the DP corrects the ghastly spray-tan orange they've made Sam and Dean all season so far, and that the brothers remember that they love each other. Cas should shake things up next week. Cautiously optimistic.

s8 e6, missing bobby, spn reviews, garth, supernatural!, "southern comfort", hurting!boys, season 8
