uNF!!

Got me teeth examined. There's seven other cavities besides the one that broke itself.
Total bill for their treatment plan, which includes a few root canals for the worst ones, after all my insurance takes care of what it can...

...$3400.00

Great jumping mother of scalding fuck!!!!

Holy SHIT! Wouldn't it be cheaper at that point to have them all removed and replaced with titanium?

As fun as that would be, then they'd get to charge me for replacing each tooth instead of the few that have issues.
Still, I'd never fear a pumpernickel again...

Does that include platinum plating for all of your existing teeth? That's crazy, man. I ♥ my socialized medicine. =/

Unless you are at risk of losing some of the teeth, I'd find out how much your insurance will cover and get that plus whatever you can afford to get done this year, then put off the less critical ones until next year when your insurance resets itself. If you still need more done, put it off for another year again.

That's what I had to do for my teeth when they started falling apart a few years ago.

...

Man, you're way too young to be having those kinds of troubles with your teeth.

Heh, well this is what I get for just simply failing to take care of them.

I probably will just do the critical ones this year, and see what I can put off until next year. Assuming I'm still working at this same job.

For dentistry? No wonder you have people flying off to Thailand for their surgery. I wonder if there's some cross-border deal on dental work somewhere?

Thing is, in this country they assume you have insurance whether you do or not, and price accordingly. There is no motivation to keep prices reasonable.

It has been suggested that I take a trip up to my northern homeland and take advantage of my lingering citizenship...I'll have to do research on that.

Heh, I wouldn't even have insurance if my job hadn't started offering it just this month.

That's about right on the money, I paied about the same for my dental work, including a root cannel (2000 itself) and two crowns (1000 in total there) acutaly now that I do the math you look like your comming in cheeper then I did. :) I ended up paying about 3k over a year after insurance, which was 90% to 50% depending on what was done.

Take it slow and get the critial stuff done first, and work with the dentiest and your insurance company to find out the best payment plan. Also, and I doubt this is any comfort, it might be enough to detuct from your taxes next year.
