Lula is my all-time favorite character! Evanovich is definitely the BEST at characterization.
I haven't read Life of Pi, and probably won't, but I felt the same way when I read Angela's Ashes. My expectations were too high, maybe.
Great year of reading!

I can't pick out a favorite Evanovich character. I'm happy to have Grandma Mazur make her appearances, though!
Skip LoP! As an English teacher, you might appreciate how the writer brings his story line together, but I can't recommend it for an enjoyable read.
Yes, high expectations will torpedo a book quicker than anything!
Do you keep a list of the books you read?

Time for you to go to bed and me to go to work! :D

It's so sad that I don't remember a great deal of what I read any longer. I used to be so sharp. I could even remember the page number where certain events occurred. Oh well, everything is new!
Do keep a list. I love to see what people are reading. Of course, I can't die for the next 100 years if I'm going to catch up on my to-read list!
Have a good day! I hope the kids are all worn out from vacation, and you have a peaceful first day back.

I could not shred. Ther was one--just one--book that I tossed in our burn barrel. It was about a guy who feels that he was Paul of Tarsus in a past life. Twisting the purpose of Jesus had to be his motive, and once I figured that out, to the barrel it went.
