Is anyone familiar with any legal issues concerning fair business practices? I am seriously considering lodging a complaint against the corporation that employs me for unfair treatment regarding timely notification of my benefits responsibilities ( Read more... )

Corporations suck, man. You should really call the HR department and complain a lot. At least give someone over there a headache listening to you to get revenge.

Call and make an appointment with the Director of Human Resources. Don't dicuss this with any of the other staff under him/her. When you get there, explain there is a problem and that you have come to seek their assistance in solving it, since it originated in HR.

Then, tell your story calmly and professionally. State the facts. At the end, ask: what can I do now, to receive my benefits, under these circumstances? (since this now is an urgent matter)

Don't mention the unfairness (that will be obvious) or your opinions or feelings. Don't mention their incompetence. Stay with the facts. Simply tell the facts and wait for their response.

Be patient yet persistant. You want to be viewed as a professional caught up in their mistake. Give the Director a change to correct it. Call for the appointment today and let us know what happens.
