The entrance jingles and Celine quickly plasters a smile on her face to greet the new customer. "Hello, welcome to Beat Burger! How many in your party?"
A tall young man with dark shades, leather jacket, and perfectly gelled hair walks up to the podium where Celine stands. "Just me. And I'd like the most secluded booth you can give me, if it's not too much to ask." What a hot velvet voice. He takes off the sunglasses and lord have mercy on her soul, he's beautiful to top it all off.
"O-Of course not, right this way sir." Celine's friend slash co-worker Joyce kicks her foot where the attractive customer isn't able to see and hands her the menu she almost forgot to take. Celine doesn't feel a thing, being too distracted by the mystery man, and leads the way with an insistent elbow to the ribs and smirk from Joyce.
"Beautiful day today, isn't it?" Celine nervously tries small talk upon the walk to the customer's designated table.
"Mm, a bit too warm for me."
Celine snorts and regrets it almost immediately when she hears light laughter from behind. Her cheeks flare from embarrassment and she quickens her pace to hide it. "Says the person wearing a black leather jacket," she mumbles.
They arrive at the farthest corner table from the entrance and only two groups of people are in the surrounding area, and even they are far from earshot. "Here's your table, sir." Celine motions for the boy to sit and he complies, gracefully sliding into the dimly lit booth.
"Perfect, thank you..." the boy leans forward to check the tag on her apron, "Celine."
His eyes and nose crinkle in the most adorable way possible when he smiles with all teeth and Celine's knees almost give out. "No problem--"
"You can call me Jongin, babe." He takes off his leather jacket and stretches a bit in his gray wifebeater, probably to show off his impressive but cute arms. God, he's perfect.
Wait. Babe?
"Excuse me?" Celine jerks back in surprise when Jongin grabs the menu out of her hands.
He completely ignores her questioning and babbles on, "You know, I always thoroughly read menus because they include 'me' and 'u'." He opens the flaps and looks up through long lashes to check Celine's reaction.
She's beyond done at this point. If the blank look on her face is anything to go by.
"If I'm not mistaken, I'd say you're trying to hit on me." Celine hopes her voice isn't shaking too much with nerves. And that her face isn't as red as it feels.
"Shoot," Jongin closes the menu and pushes it aside, "Was I too obvious?" He tilts his head innocently, but the grin on his face gives him away.
Celine rolls her eyes and takes out a booklet and pen, spontaneously deciding to be hostess and waitress for a day. "Are you ready to order?"
Jongin clasps his hands together, propping his chin on top of them and studies Celine with narrowed eyes. She coughs lightly under the scrutinizing gaze and waits for him to reply.
"I think I'll just go with a filet mignon." Jongin breaks his stare and hands the menu back to the waitress. She writes it down in messy scrawl and asks, "And what would you like to drink with that?"
"I'd ask for some wines, but I prefer moans."
Celine's mouth dries instantly. "I-I'm sorry?"
"Just give me a coke, please." He shoots another flattering smile at her and she's starting to believe he does it just to spite her.
He waves his hands a little to tell her he's done ordering and she sighs deeply before walking to the kitchen to submit the order.
"So tell me what happened." Joyce pulls Celine by the sleeve and speaks in hushed tones.
"I'm not sure I like him so much." Celine straightens out her half apron and Joyce's jaw slightly drops.
"Are you kidding. I knew he was your type the moment he stepped in here and spread his cologne all over the place." He does smell good. Not cheap like Axe, but something sweet and crisp. Not too strong, but noticeable.
"Celine."
"Huh, what." She shakes out of her drifting thoughts and turns to Joyce.
"He won't stop staring at you." She points in his direction and Celine slaps her hand down. "Don't point! He'll know we're talking about him."
"I think he wants you back over there." A smirk steadily grows back on Joyce's features and when Celine turns, sure enough Jongin is unmistakably looking straight at her, wiggling his finger for her to come.
"Go get 'em tiger." Joyce cackles, slapping Celine's butt before pushing her out from behind the hosts' podium.
The walk to Jongin's booth is a painful one. Celine's emotions are all jumbled together and she's worried what he might say or do. He seems a bit playful and casanova-like. He's not in her safe zone just yet.
"What." She stops in front of him, arms crossed. She fights a gag coming through from the cigarette smoke swirling in the air around him.
"Is this how to talk to all of your customers?" Jongin raises a perfect eyebrow and Celine wants to fawn over his everything. But the swirls of white coming out of his mouth and nostrils is distracting.
"No, just you." She smiles at him. Two can play at this game. "And you can't smoke in here."
Jongin ignores the comment and motions for Celine to come closer. She moves in apprehensively and nearly squeals when Jongin pulls her in beside him. "What do you think you're doing! I'm on shift!"
"And I think you're cute." He stubs the barely used stick out on the shiny wooden table, leaving a little burn mark, before draping an arm over her shoulders, holding her close but awkwardly against his side. She squirms to get comfortable since it doesn't seem like he'll be letting her go any time soon, not even bothering to respond to his abrupt confession.
Celine looks around nervously, and fortunately no one is in her field of vision who could witness her unwillingly breaking protocol. "Can you like, stop."
"I'm serious though." Celine looks up and sees the sincerity in his gleaming eyes for once. She swallows the lump forming in her throat.
There's a thick silence that fills the air for some time and Celine clears her throat before speaking, "You think you can get away with anything because you're a pretty boy, huh?"
"You think I'm pretty?" The corners of his thick lips quiver upwards and Celine is tempted to lean in and-- no.
"Shut up. Just. Stop avoiding the question." She shies away from his smoldering gaze and chooses to fiddle with her thumbs.
"Look," Jongin releases his grip on her and Celine sighs at the loss of warm contact. "I'm sorry if I came off a bit...too strong. I guess I got a little nervous talking to someone so pretty like you." When Celine looks up, he's the one looking away as if afraid of what Celine might say in return.
"You got nervous so you threw ridiculously cheesy and suggestive pick up lines at me." Celine glares accusingly, sitting up straight and turned towards him.
Jongin shrugs and that cute smile graces his lips again.
Celine does the first thing she can think of upon registering his genuine niceness. She slaps his upside the head as hard as possible.
"Ow! What the fuck!" Jongin rubs the side of his head with a scowl on his face and pouts at her.
"You deserve that you little shit." She scoffs and slumps against the back of the felt seat. "Don't just go around sweet talking every girl like that."
Jongin continues rubbing the pain away and says, "I promise, I don't. It's just you."
She feels the blush flooding across her cheeks again (this whole blushing thing has to stop) and bites her bottom lip.
"I think I'm gonna head out now," Jongin glances at the shiny watch on his wrist and pulls the leather jacket back on.
"Wait, but your food!" Work mode kicks in and she holds Jongin down before he can escape. It's rude to leave after ordering food.
"Oh, ah." He pulls out a bulky wallet and slabs a fifty on the table. "Do you happen to have any raisins here?" He's smiling that sketchy smile again and it worries Celine.
"No..."
"Oh good, then how about a date?" His eyes crinkle into slits and god, she can really get used to watching his gorgeous everything and anything despite how annoying of a person he can be.
"Dates?"
"Oh so you want multiple dates already, okay that's fine with me." He pecks Celine on the cheek before she can process what he's even saying and then he jumps over the table, escaping from her possible ambush in 3...2...
"FUCKING JONGIN COME BACK HERE."
He slaps a piece of paper on the hosts' podium before flying out the front doors, telling Joyce, "Please give this to her when she calms down."
"Will do." She grins smugly and smacks it on Celine's forehead before she can run after Jongin. "Phone number and date for Celine Doan."
"Filet mignon for table number sixteen!"

"Celine help me flirt with the chefs. I really really want cookies!" Joyce pulls and throws her friend's arms around, trying to get her attention, but Celine has long ago gotten used to it. The entrance bells ring and Celine looks up. "Welcome to Beat Bur-- oh my god, you."
"Me!" The boy laughs and strides up to the stand with a friend in tow.
Jongin's back, though wearing more casual clothes, and he looks just as great as before. Maybe even more with that plain shirt, jeans, varsity jacket and smooth, straight hair settled over his soft chocolate eyes.
"We have a date to fulfill." Jongin leans over the stand and hovers over Celine's face, making her almost cross-eyed at the dizzily close proximity.
"I'm working, as you can see." Celine turns to Joyce, who has become strangely quiet after the boys came in, for backup, but she's busy shooting hearts out of her eyes at the dimple boy Jongin brought with him. "Who's..."
"Oh! This is my friend Yixing. He's Chinese, but languages aren't a problem for a fast learner like him." He pats his friend roughly on the back and they both laugh. Joyce is close to drooling and making a lunge for the cute China boy. Celine pinches the little bit of skin on her hip, but she doesn't even flinch.
"Nice to meet you guys." He smiles in a cute way, different to that of Jongin's and the single dimple on his left cheek is becoming increasingly endearing with every second that passes. His twinkling eyes linger on Joyce for a while longer and he nods at her in respectful greeting.
When he looks back at Celine, he says with a mischievous glint in his eyes, "Jongin tells me a lot about you. Like, a lot." Said boy pushes his face away and Yixing laughs. Joyce joins him, but it sounds so forced, as if she's choking on her own saliva and she looks pained yet blissful.
"So Line-ah, about that date..." Jongin moves in closer and whispers darkly against Celine's ear. She can't help the full body shiver that wrecks her body and gulps.
"Yixing. Um. Do you think you want to like--"
"Let's go do something fun, like clubbing. Jongin hasn't been a very exciting friend lately." He frowns and pulls Joyce by her wrist. Her face looks strained from the effort of holding in a scream.
"But we barely just--"
"I'll be nice." Yixing winks and grins until his dimple is clearly visible, almost mocking Joyce.
"I'm sorry, I know I said this once already, but I'll say it again. We are WORKING." Celine shies away from Jongin's touch, but he doesn't easily relent, grabbing her hands and locking his fingers between hers.
"Hey clubbing sounds like a great idea, actually." Celine sighs, already thinking of emergency excuses to say to their boss. "You know, people don't call me coffee sometimes for nothing. It's because I grind so fine." He smirks at his own lame joke and nudges Yixing who just shakes his head solemnly.
"Jongin."
"Yes, Line-ah?"
"Shut up."
"Yixing, you can take me anywhere you'd like." Joyce is still staring with dreamy eyes and dimple boy smiles.
"Sounds like a plan."
