Um, I've been busy?

The books piled in my house that I fantasize about reading:
Realm of the Dead by Uchida Hyakken
Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky
Willful Creatures by Aimee Bender
Saints and Strangers and The Magic Toyshop by Angela Carter ( Read more... )

I feel your pain. I'm a pretty slow reader, so I was lamenting that I have yet to get to the Ted Chiang short stories I was lent, like, a month ago. Then while cleaning up the bedroom and putting books back on my bookshelf, I realized that I've got not one but TWO Neil Gaiman books I haven't read, plus one of Brian Greene's string theory books, plus two other books of short stories. And that's just what I found INTERESTING among the piles of things I haven't read yet.

And I have seen a skinned squirrel, in a context so vile I'm not going to elaborate even a little.

It's a shame that '80s Chicago (as fun as some of it is!) has totally obscured the different sort of fun that 1969-1974 Chicago provided.

"As I was walking down the street one day..."

Haven't seen a skinned squirrel yet. It's #576 on my list of things to do.

80's Chicago wound up way too sappy for me, thanks, as far as I know, to Peter Cetera.

"You're the Inspiration" indeed. :P
