Dust and Dogs and Seeds, Oh My
One brown, one green thumb
Disappointing lack of growth
All seeds go to waste*
Dog shifts a few inches
Princess-like sleepy lounging
Moving patch of sun**
Those devil winds aren't just a breeze
Can make the folks here cough and wheeze
My nose is in tumult
Adds inj'ry to insult
That I sometimes pee when I sneeze
Watery itchy eyes
Foreign particle flurries
Miserableness***
The billable hour can be neat
"Can make me more money? he bleats?
I feel like a tool
No longer need school
The code does allow me to "cheat"****
* Then, of course, after I write this, I see 4 pairs of leaves, as 4 of the seeds sprout out of the dirt. Whee! The other three planters, though? Nada.
** And I feed right into that princessiness by moving the dog bed into the sun every hour or so, on the weekend. I'm an enabler!
***Part of what makes the Santa Anas so miserable this time around are the wildfires that are northeast of us (while the devil winds blow south, thus driving all the ash and crap right to the coast), and just when, on Saturday, the winds died down and the firefighters got a handle on the Palm Springs-area fire, a fire a bit north of us started yesterday. The allergies of Friday and Saturday may have developed into a sinus infection. I'll know as soon as I stop blowing green chunks out of my lungs and nose, or talk to my allergist. Astrablue, this section of post is dedicated to you, baby, and the nasty but wicked cool slice of heaven called phlegm I just coughed out in the bathroom at work. Woo!
**** I was gearing up to enroll in a paralegal school, which would have cost me a bit, even with my boss paying half, and would have take up a year of my life, pretty much. And then a local friend here tells me that I don't have to do that; as long as I have a year's experience, I can be a paralegal with just my attorney's say so. I had heard and read before that an attorney could vouch, but only with a few years' experience, and only before a certain year, but when I actually went to read the code (law) about this, that only applied to people who had HS diplomas. If you have a higher degree, with one year of paralegal-type work, and a declaration of the attorney you work for, you can bill for your time as a paralegal. So, thanks, D. So. Much.
