Astrid made it through surgery. The doctor said he was able to clean up all the spinal fluid and the outside of her spine looked okay, but he was careful to say he didn't know about the inside and that we will not know if she is going to be able to walk again for a few days at least. I was anxious to see if you had posted an update, I am glad it went okay and they were able to clean things up. I also have heard of this being not uncommon in her breed (since we had one too we were aware of what could go wrong, sometimes he would hurt his back a little-maybe a strained muscle-and would be limping for a few days). Just because of how they are built...when he would jump up on a chair and hang off the end my heart would go in my throat. I hope you know there isn't anything you could have done to prevent it really and she loves you and Bill back and she is coming home to be healthy and happy again.

We are still not out of the woods yet... but I am relieved she is alive still. Whatever happens, at least we get to keep our lovable little creature, and that is what is most important.

Thank you, Erin. You are good at making people feel better. (That's an excellent quality in a future doctor!)
