How to Thank a Veteran: Have Their VFW Post Closed

Nov 14, 2011 07:57

I wasn't there for it on Friday, 11-11-11, Veteran's Day here in the US, but at some point during the ceremonies at the George Dilboy VFW, my post, officials apparently entered and informed the post commander that code violations (which we've been trying to fix via a new post that about 100 people in the district have so far successfully fought ( Read more... )

I'm not quite getting what all this is about ... The place where you work your 2nd job? And it's closed because of what???

It's a long story. I actually started writing you a letter on Saturday at work which explained it, but got sidetracked by the number of members coming in to sort of mourn and say goodbye. I'll finish it up tonight and get it posted to you. ;)

Do the downstairs and upstairs halls have separate capacity limits or does 95 apply to the whole post? (Just about anything I've attended upstairs has way more than 95 people)

As I understood it from the Quartermaster, it's separate limits. I need to edit this. I think we're supposed to be under 95 downstairs.

It's actually pretty rare that we have functions upstairs with more than 95 people though. What have you been attending?! And if there are more than a certain number, a police detail has to be hired. This has been the process for years.

The beer festival I went to a couple of years back had way more than 95 people -- it was jampacked. Also I recall a DSLJ-organized band party (I think you were part of this?) with more than that.

The Beer-Fest usually is, yes. But a Band Party? Not me.

Where you could challenge the "good" Aldernamn to a duel. And then leave this bint's twitching body on the green while you walked off victorious to proceed with building your new Post.

But we are, alas, "civilized" now, so this self-important troll can be fiercely ignornant that she enjoy's safety from her epic stupidity and lack of awarness by efforts of better women and men than herself.

Invite the bint AND the Governor to Boston Common.

It *is* legal to fight a duel to the death on the Common, but only if the Governor is in attendance.

Just sayin'

The Documentation in Question for anyone who doesn't have enough to read today.

It's very evident that this bint and her cronies will do anything to prevent the VFW from pressing on - even when the VFW capitulates to their concerns, they'll strive to re-zone after our plans are approved. It's...galling to say the least.

Ah, the good ol' days when life and death were viewed in a far more pragmatic light. A duel.

(read the following with a Bronx-Italian accent) Or, Pelgar, bytchearse, Diablu and I could drop by her office to simply discuss thing as...uh, concerned citizens. Yeah, that's it concerned. We might even get there in time to assist her, 'cause, you know, the workplace is dangerous and she could have an accident, like....
