Why are we on LJ? A rather interesting question that, for some reason popped into my head this evening and started the gears. It's not my question though, I read it in a friend's LJ a few days ago. But I finally have an answer, so if you're reading this, here it is. Then again, this could just all be random babble that I do have a tendency to spit out...

I think we're all on LJ for different reasons.

I'm on LJ to keep my friends updated as to what's going on. Well, friends, and the case of a few people who read mine, close aquaintances. Living here in central Jersey, a solid hour and a half away from most of the people I know, I've found it the easiest way to keep them informed. That, and I don't know quite everyone's phone number or email address, and rather than send out individual notices, I put it once for all to see.

But what about the quizzes that we take online? Why take them? Or, a better question, why post the results for all to see? I think that, we want to show the results of the quizzes for the comparisons to our true attitudes, or thoughts, or personalities, etc.. The "Zombie Survival Test" for example. What was the point in taking that? A good laugh, I think. And, deep down, somewhere in my psyche, I wanted to know what the quiz would say about my "skills" for handling such a random situation. Or, any of the other quizzes. I know for a while, a couple of years back, I was taking every quiz I found on another friend's LJ, simply because for some reason I kept turning up the same results. Similarities in personality, or just plain luck?

I think that the LJ can also be used to show our creative sides. I know of someone who posts mostly stories on the LJ. Though, I've never actually read them, I've heard they're fairly well written. And then there is another friend, who for a while was changing and redesigning the format of the LJ every other week, or for the short while every week, simply because s/he wanted to. And there were times that the background, or icon picture, or just the general design was user made. Expression in another form.

I also know of people who have one of these just for the hell of it. To post randomly. To say whatever comes to mind. Or whatever doesn't come to mind. *shrug*

Actually, I think we're all on LJ for the same reason, and it's so simple I missed it earlier. We're on LJ because we want to be on LJ. That's it. No specific purpose. Just because...

So it's been a couple of weeks since my last post. Not much has changed though, so you're not missing much in the life of me. ^_^

The scratch under my eye is healed and gone. On one hand, I was oddly hoping for a scar. Don't ask me why, I don't even know...

Two weeks have come, and two weeks have gone. This Wednesday will be three weeks without word from Picatinny. My father was saying he'd read online about a job that wasn't due to close until September; I do hope that's not what I interviewed for. I am going to be starting to look up the personnel departments to the big ChE places around the area, and finding out what I have to do to try to get a job with them. In the meantime, I'm probably going to start looking for a temporary job of sorts. I wish I'd've thought of that as soon as I came home from school back in December. I've been a bum for far too long...

So the nice weather brought on over the last couple of weeks has led to a rather not-so-fun chore at my house: yardwork. Raking leaves (which were never moved in the fall), picking up the sticks, trimming hedges, transplanting bushes and flowers, etc.. I enjoy being outside, but not so much the yardwork. Tomorrow, I think I'm going to help my father try to clean out the shed/workshop. The drop ceiling's coming out, and the carpetted floor is going too. There's wood rotting in different places around the thing (apparently the guy that had the house before us built it as cheaply as possible). That should be interesting. At least it won't be raining.

Ah, rain, which led to another problem in the house. Water is seeping into our utility room. Through the wall. Luckily right over the sump pump, so it's coming in and going right back out. That'll be a project to look into when things finally dry out...

Took a renewed interest into my Initial D cards. Started building decks again. Slowly. As in, it's been taking me a solid 2-3 days to build a deck. I'm hoping they play well against the decks of my friends O:-) We'll see...
