I bought the first two special edition CDs because they were the only two I didn't already own on CD. I had Bon Jovi and 7800° Fahrenheit on cassette (yes I am old) and then I bought the vinyl off eBay about 10 years ago. I'm pleased with the sound quality and I like the live tracks and the fancy packaging. The laminates remind me of attending those concerts back in the 80s. Not sure the vault thing is worth it, and it's gonna expire in a few months anyway. I haven't really had time to fully delve into what they are offering.
I might buy Slippery When Wet and New Jersey to get the laminate because I also saw a show on that tour and that would complete my nostalgia tripping. The rest of them, I think I'm going to just buy the bonus tracks individually from iTunes and leave it at that.
...I was very confused by what you meant by laminates so I looked for pictures, and it turns out I guess my copy didn't come with one :( Kind of makes me want to go to a different store to see if I can find Faith with one...but on the other hand I think it makes me a little more bitter about the whole thing in general.
And yeah, if iTunes has them song by song, that sounds like a good idea :). I may have to follow suit.
That sucks that there's two different packages! What a crappy marketing decision, especially if the cost is the same. Are yours in jewel cases, then? Mine were in Enviropacks and I got them from Amazon.
Seriously, I think I need to go get a job in the BJM marketing department. They clearly could benefit from my input.
They've only just come out with the special editions in Australia but considering I'm a youngun and already have all of them on CD I don't find it worth it to buy it again. I have however been mining the ITunes versions for the live tracks - some of them require you to buy the whole album but most of them you can get individually. I am intrigued by the vault, though!
I might get them..not sure. i think i'd be cool to have, but i do have them all, (and yes, my first slippery when wet cassette is around somewhere) just hearing all this stuff about so much $$$ being charged at the circle tour, so i am not sure i want to spend more $$ right now..maybe when i get my dream job!
haha, yeah my Slippery cassette is still rolling around somewhere too. Would you believe me if I told you I'd gotten it at a garage sale and thought it was a jazz group at first? Boy was I wrong...
Mmmm, dream job. Though I think any dream job would include getting these tracks complementary. Added bonuses for working on compiling them and all :P
Didn't have them? wow...that's dissappointing! We've got a display in the cd section with every one but Crush and Faith. (Which may be a good thing because if I was going to cave for any cd but Bon Jovi, it'd probably be Faith). The DVD is good though if you can find it!, worth the $10 I think anywho.
And no, alas, they wouldn't know anything like that. Trust me, they just kind of stock what they're given (just like I don't know the first thing about any of the stock in the first place :P). Some third party vendors or something controls what comes in. *shrug*. That's the extent of any of the knoweldge for a ground level employee. Or so I've gathered :D
Though I have to say that I'm dissappointed in the fact that they've released it exclusively to Wal Mart! I'm praying that this isn't a sign of things to come...whether by Bon Jovi or the music industry in general. As extensive as Wal Mart's reach may be, they are not the end-all be-all in the retail world. right? *I hope*
I had to go to three separate Walmarts to find my copy of the MSG DVD! It's not that they were sold out, it's that they weren't there in the first place. Someone did a really poor job marketing that whole thing.
I think I'm with almost everyone else. There's a couple of CDs I don't have that I'll probably pick up when I can, but as for the ones I already have, yeah, the special editions would be cool, but I can't afford to spend money on that right now. Especially when there's other things I need, and I know there's new music coming out this year that I want. If I already have the older release of the CD, it seems silly right now.
