Beg pardon? STS-107 wasn't that long ago. 2003, actually, so they'd be twelve years old.
I don't remember the Challenger disaster, but I remember watching the trails of debris of Columbia sitting in 1103 Allegany. I remember spending summers at NASA as an intern, reviewing the Columbia Accident Investigation Board findings, and completely dropping what I was doing for an entire day to watch Return to Flight in 2005.
