It's so wonderful that you're willing to adopt a dog who might need special dental care. I hope you're able to bring him home <3 How do the rabbits do around dogs?
The rabbits love other animals. I really want an older dog, too. I like puppies but I'd rather adopt a dog that's older and has less of a chance of being adopted...that and i don't really wanna do the puppy stage around my bunnies
QFEing this. Getting attached is one thing, but at this point in your life you really don't need to get attached to a $3000 dental bill (maybe more for a dog?) The fact that she's being a skank about giving you the records should be a huge warning sign.
I agree with Zoi and Cat. If she gets so pissy over something you are MORE then entitled to have, then perhaps she knows something you dont.. Or even if she doesnt...its not so hard to understand why you'd want to check something like that...The fact that she's taking it personal and being a bitch is just stupid.
Thank you guys for your support. I'd called the vet that saw him and it's just a plaque build up so I'd just need to brush his teeth and get some special teeth cleaning treats which isn't a big deal at all.
i got an email this morning from her, though. She had talked to another rescuer who said it was a bad idea to "hold" a dog for someone. She's reluctant to adopt to me because I wouldn't be able to take him home till next month (once we're in the house). She did say she'd consider a non-refundable deposit pending home check(if she decides not to let me have him, then I get the deposit back, I'd only lose it if _I_ backed out).
I hope she'll let me do it. You should see this sweet little dog. I didn't realize how attached I was until this morning when I got an email saying she wasn't sure about it.

you're totally being responsible here. don't let her scare you. adoption groups get really uppity for valid and not-so-valid reasons, mostly brought on by having so many crappy people come in and f*ck with them.
just keep talking to her and make sure she knows you're serious. no one could object to a potential owner making sure they know all the details before making a decision.
