[Perhaps it was the amnesia, or perhaps it was something deeper, but when Zhaneel wakes in the Keep after her unfortunate death she doesn't panic. In fact, she spends several minutes trying to recollect anything that might help her in this situation

[The gryphon has been wandering the halls ofthe barracks, learning her surroundings while she is in quarantine. She periodically checks her journal, however, to see if anything else occurs or if anyone responds to her again.

She finds Kloe's response about that time and tilts her head curiously.]

It is .. alright, I think .. I am alive, although it is not what I might have expected. I am.. grateful for that, I think ..

[Zhaneel tilts her head slightly at that then recalls one of the last entries she saw in the journal.]

You are Kloe? The doctor?

[She also saw that she'd responded with the woman several times, although she could not remember the specifics of any relationship they might have had.]

Did you do this on purpose?

No. I didn't.

[Zhaneel's voice never changes, sounding perfectly matter-o-fact about the issue.]

Then it is not your fault .. you are no more responsible for this than a mageling losing control because they have not been trained. It was not done out of malevolence, nor with the intent to harm any here .. From what I have read, you do not put yourself out much amongst the others within the Keep. I cannot think that there is much else that could have been done, Kloe .. not without keeping yourself sheltered from everything as no living creature should.

[Without the hangups of her own past in her mind, Zhaneel sounds to be quite the mature grown up, doesn't she?]

[And that's basically what Kloe has been trying to tell people for a while now. Actually hearing someone else say it kind of.

She doesn't know how to react. But she has to say something. So she laughs weakly.]

[She doesn't sound very confident on the matter, though.]

[Zhaneel thrums low in her throat, the sound a gentle purr after Kloe's response.]

Do not seclude yourself in such a manner, Kloe .. you deserve better than that. A slip during a lifetime .. even two .. are not enough to earn such.

[Listen to the sagely gryphon, Kloe. Aara's post said you were her friend and that she didn't want you to hold this guilt.]
