Ah yes. Weather in this country continues to baffle me. Winter temperatures lasted until the beginning of April and we finally got some good warm days in mid April. Now, in May, we have to worry about dust from China that is hazardous to people's health. After the dust is gone, it will become extremely hot and humid. I officially hate the weather in this country. The weather is nice in the fall, but that's pretty much it. And, for some reason, fall does not last very long. Winter starts early, in November. I can't wait to get back to the hot valley. Sometimes it's hotter than hell but that's only during summer. Even then, it's not humid and there are beaches nearby and pools for cooling off. I have not encountered any of that here.
Despite the weather, this is a great place. The kids can piss me off sometimes but most of the time they just melt my heart. They are too cute. Sometimes I just want to give them hugs, but that could lead to my deportation. I'll just stick to high fives.
I finally found some pretty good restaurants not too far from my apartment, so eating isn't such a chore anymore. I feel most comfortable when I can have variety. The "better than authentic" Mexican restaurant near me will be put to good use.
My job is incredibly easy and not demanding. I didn't teach much last week because the students had exams. I didn't teach much this week either because they were all going over the scores of their exams. Plus, teachers day, children's day, parent's day, and Buddha's birthday are all this week, which means no work. Such an easy 2 grand this month.
I'm trying to get involved in some cultural festivities before I go back to the states. I am also scrambling to learn as much Korean as I can provided I have the drive or motivation on a particular day. 연습해야되.
