I dream of cakes and pies.

Tim's pre-Thanksgiving dinner is coming and my culinary expertise has earned me a place of honor in the kitchen working shoulder to shoulder with Casey in preparation to feed 20-30 hungry bellies, I have to admit I'm both excited and nervous about it ( Read more... )

Or you could always try Google to see what pops up. I always refer to other recipes to give me an idea of what I'd need to have or do to have an edible end product.

(Also, it's desserts. Remember, with desserts you always want seconds, but in a desert you want to escape as soon as possible!)

Hmm, that's a pretty good start but I had an idea where the cheese cake would have the pecan pie layer on top. I was pondering using one of those round pans that can be separated. But, I'm a bit leary about the result.

That's a great way to remember how to spell it. Of course I'm a little ashamed considering I dream of being an author. Then again if it wasn't for you (And your remarkable reserves of patience.) my spelling and grammar wouldn't be any where near what it is today.

On a side note: Do you still use aim? I've been trying to pop on that thing more often.

I don't think it will work too well unless the layers were prepared separately. The pie and cheesecake aren't that similar in texture, so I imagine it all becoming a big soupy mess.

I do use AIM, but I've been really busy. I just got done with midterms but now I need to be working on final projects before I leave for a week.

I had a crazy idea of baking the cheese cake a little bit so that it was a bit frim then pulling it out and adding the pecan pie layer. That way it could support the extra layer, account for cooking time but still give both of them the chance to bond. The real question is could the pecan pie actually hold together without a crust?

Yeah professors really like to pile things on, no?

You could put pecans into cheesecake.

That would be too easy! lol But I want to have the Pecan pie filling for the top of the cake. You know that nummy gelatinous type layer, with the pecans on the tippy-top.
