TOO COOL VERSE (A much needed cheerful note.)

Jun 23, 2010 23:46

After a long day in medical, McCoy was looking forward to spending the evening with his girlfriend. Things had been going perfectly for him and Nyota had suggested earlier that they make use of the ship's bowling alley since they both had the night off ( Read more... )

Work had been a bit stressful lately, given the disappearing files and computer glitches, but learning Elgemese from Lieutenant Keenser had brightened her day substantially. It was the sort of thing she truly loved, the whole reason she'd joined Starfleet in the first place. And the day seemed as if it could only get better. Nyota and Leo finally had a night when they were both off, and although there was a lot she could be doing she needed a night off.. and she needed to see him. Whenever things were spiraling out of control, seeing him made her feel better, calmed the chaos in her head.

She got to the bowling alley early, dressed in jeans and a loose, flowy shirt that she'd bought on Risa. She didn't feel the need to be too dressed up for bowling, but she still like to look cute when they were going on official "dates." She got there before him and mentally laughed at herself for being over-excited... but it had been much too long since they'd had any real time together. She was changing into bowling shoes when she heard his ( ... )

"All day? You poor thing. I'm the worst boyfriend a girl could ask for, darlin', you really can do better," he teased back as she turned to face him. Once she was facing him completely, he stepped forward and leaned in to press a gentle, but lingering kiss to her lips. It felt so good to be back in her arms again, to taste her lips on his once more. Even though he'd just seen her that morning before his shift, being able to do more than sleep beside her was nice. They'd both been so busy that they really deserved a little bit of relaxation by now. All of his stress from earlier in the day melted as his lips meshed with hers and he finally pulled back to let out a slow breath.

He grabbed a pair of bowling shoes and took a seat in the chair beside the one she'd been in just a moment ago when he walked in. "So, I'm going to forewarn you, Nyota, I really am quite good at bowling. I may not let you win," he said, in an equally teasing tone. Everything was so simple with Nyota, maybe that's why they got along so well. So often they had ( ... )

"You're awful," she teased back. "Going to work all day and healing people instead of paying attention to me." She laughed, and then he was kissing her. She melted into it, laying one hand on his cheek. The other hand found his and tangled their fingers together. The kiss was gentle and slow, with no intention of being anything more than a kiss, but it meant so much to her. It was so simple, but she'd missed it. She'd missed him and instantly she felt the stress melting away. She didn't want him to pull away, but she never wanted him to pull away. It just felt right to be with him. She treasured every moment they had together.

She laughed when he told her that he was good at bowling. "Let me win? That'd be completely impossible," she said, waving a hand airily and raising one eyebrow. "Mostly because I'm actually awful at this." She laughed. "Actually, I've only bowled a few times before. But maybe beginner's luck will prevail?" Not that any of it really mattered. She was happy just to be around him, especially with ( ... )

"I know, I know.. It's a sad, shameful profession. I really should just give it up so that I can spend more time with you... I've missed you far too much lately," he replied, chuckling softly as he did so. He was going to break the kiss, really, he was, but then her hand was on his face and in his hair and although he was not going to push the encounter past a kiss, the passion and warmth of her lips dancing with his just shivers down his spine. It felt so good to just hold her there for a moment and put the rest of the world on hold. God, she was perfect... but then, he needed to breath, Damn you, reliance on oxygen, so he pulled back and took a deep breath, smiling down at her ( ... )

He nodded and held his hands up in surrender. "I know, I know. She's just a little too invasive for my taste, psychiatrist or not. I don't hold it against her personally, I'm just not fond of her profession and that's that," he said with a chuckle and put his hands back into his pockets. "Well, whatever they have, it must be something to keep them both away from there jobs for any time at all. I mean, they're both very dedicated workers."

"Hmm... as much as I agree with that statement, something tells me that you staying away from me for any number of times, on duty or not, is going to make both our lives a little less enjoyable," he replied. As she leaned back against him and laid her hands over his, he pressed a few kisses to her neck. "Yeah, I suppose you're right... What of it?" he asked, really more focused on her than the game.

She laughed in response to his comment about Liz and Scotty. Despite the fact that she adored Liz, she could understand not wanting someone to invade personal issues. Every once in a while Liz would treat her as a patient, but she knew when to put their friendship first.

"That's very true," she murmured. "Staying away from each other doesn't seem to do either of us any good." She had meant it to be teasing, but it didn't really come across that way. It was true: she was just happier when he was around. Even when they were so busy they could barely spend any time together, just having a few moments together and having him sleep beside her meant the world to her. She shivered slightly when he kissed her neck. The smallest touches could still drive her insane. She tilted her head to give him better access. "What, are you afraid I'm going to win if we keep playing?" she teased, turning her head back towards him and rubbing her nose against his.

The tone did change for him a little with that statement because he felt the same way. There was nothing but truth in what she said. "You couldn't be more truthful, darlin'. I'm miserable when you're not around," he replied softly, lacing his fingers through hers absently as she leaned her head aside a bit to give his kisses a wider range. McCoy couldn't help but laugh, though, at her last question and he pulled at her bottom lip with his teeth as she rubbed her nose against his. He commented back without hesitation. "I most certainly am not!"

He grinned and kissed her gently one more time before untangling himself from her arms and picking up his ball and bowling a strike. "And that's why!" he said playfully.

She just squeezed his hand when he said that, knowing that they both felt the same way. It honestly scared her a little bit, how much she had gotten used to having him around, but it was worth the risk. It was worth anything if she got to keep feeling like this. She pressed her mouth to his, laughing at his response. Then he pulled away, and she resisted the urge to protest and just watched as he bowled a strike.

“I see,” she said teasingly. “You’re just trying to distract me, aren’t you?” She walked over and picked up the ball, forcing herself to concentrate. She threw it and knocked down 7 of the pins. She grinned at him, and then threw the ball again, but it missed the remaining pins completely. “The second throw always goes poorly,” she said, crossing her arms across her chest and frowning. She walked over to him and kissed him again. "Your turn," she murmured against his lips.
