Poetry Magazines

So, after dithering and procrastinating about it for a couple of months I'm finally planning on actually submitting some stuff to poetry magazines. Hurrah?

But which poetry magazines? After talking to people and some research and recommendations, the list of possibilities includes:

Magma (also has a competition about to run 16 October - 30 November)

magazine, publishing

I don't have any advice to offer, alas - but plenty of support! Go you for submitting, your poems are definitely worth being read by as many people as possible. <3

Support is always welcome as well. I'm currently dithering about this issue of 'previously unpublished work' because apparently publishing stuff on your blog counts. But... if it's locked, i.e. not a public post (like all my poetry posts have always been), then surely it doesn't, because how is it different from showing a handwritten copy to a group of friends?

What I might do is private lock stuff that I submit. So even though it's been originally posted here (or at the other journal where all my poetry posts are now private locked anyway), it's not available forever? And if it does get published elsewhere I'll then just link to there.

Hmm... I'm kind of just thinking out loud at you, never mind :)

Aah, yeah, blog posts do count. I'm not sure how it works with the friendslock thing - perhaps you should ask ajodasso? She's experienced in these things, as you doubtless know. :)

Private locking submitted stuff sounds like a good idea though!

And thinking aloud is v. useful.
