Room 212, Saturday morning

Apr 22, 2017 11:03

It had been a late night, and a very early morning, and Ada was still fast asleep and blissfully unaware of anything that might be going on across the island.

That probably wouldn't last.

[OOC: Open for those with reasons to be there and SP since I'm at work for four more hours or so!]

Not long at all.

Tiny fingers were prying at the doorknob, not content to knock. After a few moments, Janie got it open - and slunk inside.

"Mmmm?" Came the (totally asleep) question from the Ada-shaped lump on the bed, at the sound of the door opening. "Mmmm."

It could have 'go away,' or 'come in' or anything in between. Ada wasn't actually awake enough to make that decision.

"Ma," Janie sighed quietly.

She clambered on top of the bed, immediatelly flopping over onto Ada's legs.

Oh, there was something on her legs? Had Hya come back to bed?

Ada reached down absently to pet his back-- except that...was a head? Of hair that didn't feel as long or thick as Hyacinthe's?

Confusion roused her the rest of the way into wakefulness and she propped herself up on an elbow to twist around and see who, exactly, had joined her in bed.

...oh.

"Janie-love, 's that you down there?"

Isabela leant against the wall next to the closed door with that same distant light-headedness she'd been feeling since her lie-in on the Call had been interrupted, and looked down at her not-so-tiny companion before nodding towards the door. "You know what to do?"

Sure she could knock, but where was the fun in that?

Gemma rolled her eyes before examining the doorknob. "I'm ten, Mama." she said with all exaperation she could muster. Of course she knew how to pick a lock.

Not that she'd need to pick it, since 1) Ada was friends with Hyacinthe and Isabela and locks meant nothing so why bother? and 2) Janie probably would have picked it if it had been.

They'd find Ada awake -- and dressed (now) -- sitting on her bed with another little girl snuggled into her. She glanced up at the door opening, clearly surprised to see company. "Oh, um, h'llo?"

It was the principle of the the thing!

Not that Gemma paused to explain that before flinging herself up on Ada's other side with a yelled greeting.

Of course Zia had known where the portal had taken her to, and when, because the dromonde had told her. And yes, she was supposed to ask Papa first because little girls weren't supposed to interpret what they saw on their own, but this had been pretty clear as far as Zia was concerned.

She went straight to her mama's room, since that was the closest, and walked in, to climb up on the bed. "Hi, mama."

Ada was never, ever, having sex ever again. There was a third one calling her some variation of 'mama.'

"You know I ain't your mama yet, right" she checked. "So it's not me bein' forgetful but me not knowin' at all... who are you?"

"Zia," she answered, not seeming bothered by this in the slightest, too busy snuggling up to Ada and ignoring any other children that might still be there. "I know you aren't m' mama yet you don't got your crutches.

Oh.

Ada managed to keep the wince off her face and not flinch. At least crutches was more mobile than Janie's mother seemed to be.

"Ah, aren't you th' clever one, then," she said softly, draping an arm over Zia's shoulders. "Take pity on your not-yet-mama, an' tell me some stories about you."

If she was subtly looking for scales, or webs between her fingers, well, there was always the possibility that Zia, like Gemma, was a foundling that Ada just hadn't wanted to give up to someone else.

Hyacinthe had gotten up early to make breakfast. He was by habit an early riser, if not by nature, and it was entirely probable his idea to make Ada breakfast and bring it back for her to enjoy while still abed came from the idea that she'd be less inclined towards potential grumpiness if he a) let her sleep longer while he prepared the meal and b) was greeted by the vision of him nude and offering something tasty. And where the morning went after that, well...

Whatever hopes Hyacinthe might have had about the morning were wrecked completely when he walked in and saw Ada in bed, but covered in children. "Uh...?"

The dromonde had not prepared him for an invasion of children and he was very glad he'd gotten fully dressed to make food in the common room, regardless of his previous intentions to shed them all again.

[If it's too late for me to tag into this, I understand!]

Ada looked relieved to see him.

"I was wondering where you went off to, mure chavo," she said, looking slightly frazzled. "Anyone ever tell you what happens sometimes after prom?"

"Uhh....no?" Hyacinthe said, looking from Ada to the child and back. "I definitely was not told much about anything."

Zia perked up from her spot on the bed at his voice. "Papa!" she exclaimed, throwing herself off the bed and towards Hyacinthe's legs. "You made breakfast!"
