i just transfered here. so, i really don't know much about the program. heres the little that i do know:
i came from ucsc, a large school, with art being a rather popular major. the department in general was not to helpful, as compaired with the interactions that i have had with the art departmet here at hsu. ... art is the seccond most popular major at hsu, but the classes don't seem to be impacted. the teachers are personal, not ultra famous, but good at interacting with students (as are most of the professors here). &, i think that humboldt county is a great place to find peace and let your creativity flow.
what motivates you to come to arcata? have you been painting for some years now, or just starting out?
An art teacher? At what level? They have a really good elementary education + child development program here. I’m a child development major (+ art minor), so I could tell you lots about that program if you wanted
( ... )
hummm...perv?...is their something about the content of my journal that i'm unaware of? hah
you have a lot of the same interests as me. you would have been able to tell before i went crazy & had to deleat most of them. they will come back slowly. i think i changed beyond some of them. :/
anyways, you seem interesting, and you already added me! yay!
if you don't mind, could you tell me a brief bit about you? i know thats annoying, but i would like to know more about you, and i dont have time to read many of your previous entries :/
before you went crazy? I wonder if your going crazy is similar to what my going crazy was like. Well, I added you because you seemed creative and you like children and art, art therapy, and those are interests of mine too. That poem you wrote recently reminded me of a poem I wrote a little over a year ago. Meditation and holistic measures are helpful.. I already saw you like that stuff. What can i tell you? I'm into learning..psychology, child development, spirituality, feminist thought...I've been working on personal growth for awhile, and I think I might like to help kids and teenagers with similar problems that I went thru. I don't know what else to say right now. Mayve come back to me.
what is the name of your camp? &, i read on your user info page that you are a sports instructor at your camp. have you written about this in your journal? could you tell me a little bit about what sort of sports that you do/how you prepair them? their will be a more of a sports emphisis at my camp this year. i'm a little nervous about this because the camp has never been that great at providing sports activities for the kids, and i'm not sure how much i trust the camp director with making sports NOT entierly a sighted activity.
The sports instructor position that I speak of in the profile(and talk about a ton in my journal) is at a camp for kids with physical and developmental disabilities. I also volunteer(and I will soon become the student coordinator) of Camp SportsVision, the camp for kids who are blind and visually impaired. Its still a small camp organized and run by students at Slippery Rock University. We hold fall and spring day clinics to teach sports skills and then over the summer we have a 4 day overnight sports camp. The kids live in the dorms and get to learn skills and play games. We do goalball, beep baseball, track and field, tae-quan-do, football, swimming, soccer, gymnastics, tandem cycling, rock climbing, and wrestling. For the first time this year we are also having horseback riding
( ... )
Wow…thanks for briefly going over how to adapt all of these sports! I’m pretty sure that I will be head counselor this summer, which means that I have the opportunity to make a difference in the program
