If so, hey, problem solved! We on the progressive side of things will simply rename ourselves the Progressive American Old-Fashioned Real Conservative Party. By the identical principle, this will make us conservatives. And it will make Obama a conservative too, and your brother-in-law will join with us as a good Real Conservative American ought, and we will all eat apple pie and sing patriotic songs together while passing that pesky insurance reform bill. How helpful a fellow he is, after all!

I mean, all you need to do is take away the xenophobia, the racism, the bloodthirstiness, the hate-mongering, the calls for vengeance and manifest destiny of the master race, the biblical-level treachery, the megalomania, the clinical evil, and the flat-out insanity, and you just might have a valid comparison. If you squint. And have several dozen vodka highballs. With a PCP chaser.

Here in Greece, they got a real good look at the Nazis, the Commies, and socialists, and I can tell you that they wouldn't categorize the current President in any of those categories.
