I had a lot of fun last night. Maybe even enough to get me through eight hours of xmas music and cranky customers at work. I danced with 6 girls nonstop in random rotation for 3 hours. Actually tonight I might get to see Sam so that alone should make the day okay ( Read more... )

If you want a serious artistic critique and advice, let me know... I don't want to bluntly honest and look like a dick.

Oh you can't hurt my feelings. I'm not looking for BS "Oh that's nice." I would love constructive critique. Just remember A) I don't consider myself an artist and B) I'm working off one half of a semester of drawing class, and one semester of beginning painting. That's it. I never took anything in high school. SO...I know I have a long way to go, this is just something I do for fun, but I do want to improve.

The first thing is that in painting onething you want to avoid is "outlining", which is drawing lines to represent edges. In paint, the proper way to convey form is through shapes of color. You're starting to do this somewhat in the fac, particularly the eyes and the shadows.

I agree there are definite problems with outlining here. This is the first time I have actually done a pencil sketch under the watercolor. Usually with my oils I have no plan, no sketch. The problem there is then my proportions and everything end up even weirder. So these pencil lines are definitely too dark and it muddied up the color in some spots. So how do I avoid this? Is there anyway to erase after the fact or do I have to work on applying the pencil with much less value? I know its hard to tell with these crappy pictures, but I think I like the hair best because it has texture and a little depth. I understand everyone has better things to do than answer all my dumb art questions, but I appreciate any time/advice anyone can give.

You always seem to be involved in so many new and different activities, trying new things. I am really impressed, that's an awsome aspect of your personality.

well thank you but maybe it just means I'm non-committal haha...I never really invest in anything, I just move on to something else :)
That's why I'm a Liberal Arts major, I can't focus my attention for very long.

I just read the cilt-tease thing over again and that's funny because I was just asking Rachel on thursday if she ever called some one a cunt-tease before. He he I like the colors in my hair a lot and my back too. :)I hate Christmas music! I went shopping yesterday and along with the babies crying and cash drawers jingling I really wonder how you keep your sanity.
