Tonight my mom passed from terminal cancer. She was 89 years young. My sister was her caretaker, and was with her when she left us, but really her spirit had gone a week ago. As hard as it is to say goodbye, her quality of life in the last month was dwindling and I honestly feel she only kept going so she didn't die on my sister's birthday (end ( Read more... )

Thanks Cindy. She was a really strong woman, and stubborn. Loved her beyond reason, but she really wanted to go. Her body gave up weeks ago, only her force of will kept her going until today.

Thank you very much. We will always be blessed with her memory. She was terrifically stubborn, but it has served her in good stead for almost 9 decades!

Thanks my dearie. She was so stubborn, even nearly unconscious she made it known what she wanted. She definitely will be in my heart forever.

Thank you my friend, she went very peacefully. Her force of will was amazing... my sister said she gasped and almost stopped breathing tuesday night but it was still my nephew's birthday. When Robin said it isn't midnight yet, Mom started breathing again. She held out until 6:30 pm the following day.... her younger brother told me stubborness ran in the family. I told my uncle she had it in spades...

Sounds like some good old fashioned Scottishness to me. When they took Dad's breathing tube out, the doc said he'd only last a few minutes... he lasted another three days, I think just to spite the doctor.

*hugs* and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
