Sounded like a lovely evening, and I agree with you about the Haggis...ick. Been years since I've been to a Burns' Night. Most I've ever owned was a tartan sash, but sadly that disappeared years ago.

What is interesting about Haggis is at our local Scottish Games, we have vendors who have haggis puffs which are really delightful. A little HP sauce and it's good to go. Now they are encased in puff pastry but hey, it's okay by my standards. Just haggis on crackers.. not so much. I will say the first time I had it, they served it on oatcakes and that I did eat. I have two Black Watch shawls, but nothing in clothing. The family tartan is Cameron, so I have a couple of choices as to which one to wear. A hostess skirt would be the best I think but I'm still pondering. I'll get the sash at the Games in September.

When I had haggis it was served with tatties and neeps, though I don't recall what else. The haggis was a bit too pungent for me. I think they overdid it on the onions and pepper. (neither of which I'm fond of)

On my mom's side the tartan is Thomson, I always favored the blue.
