Well the storm that wasn't going to make it far enough inland to hit us has struck with an impressive amount of snow and wind. We originally were not likely to get more than an inch...then it was the dreaded 1-3 inches, always a worrisome number because they have no clue what is coming, then it went to 4-6 inches. It's now snowing at the rate of 1 ( Read more... )

We are inside now, but John is going to a meeting tonight. At the firehouse.... luckily it's close by.
Soup is hot, knitting is waiting, and I'm wearing a wool sweater and sweatpants, socks and my shearing slippers. Now, perhaps, a glass of sherry or port....

You sound nice and toasty. I hope you had an easier night that it sounded like you were going to have.

Thought of you yesterday. I was watching an old 'Law and Order' and they mentioned your town. :D

It’s weather like this that makes retirement SO excellent.
( next best thing = working from home)

Hunker down and let the sparks fly from your needles!

BTW, what do you think of bamboo knitting needles.? I tried one pair and sent them back. I’m old fashioned....I LIKE metal.

Oh CRAP, your son will have to work in this, won’t he?

I love bamboo needles, they bend with my hands and are less cold when the temp in the house is 68 degrees... we keep it cool! Also the arthritis is less bothered by my knitting when I use lighter weight needles. I started using them knitting socks with five needles, because they were so easy to hold. If I knew when I offered the needles to John's church ladies I would have sent you my set in their leather bag! I didn't know you were a fellow knitter!
Yeah we are hunkered down in the house tonight. Temps are going down this weekend. Colin works Saturday a 24 hour shift... he knows they will find some homeless folks with frostbite. He fortunately loves the cold weather, but even he had a hat and gloves on today!
Happily the soup is warm, and we made biscuits to go with it.... yummy!
