Thoughts on scent...

Scent is the most powerful trigger to memories, it is what draws us to some people and not to others, it causes both pain and pleasure, sickness and healing.

For me, it can trigger a migraine, leave me retching from the sheer strength of it, or can soothe the tightest tension in my body. It all depends on what that scent is, how strong it is, and ( Read more... )

A winter blues cure, if temporarily: put a tiny dab of your favorite sunscreen on the back of your hand and smell. Instant summer! Other notes: when I was in first grade, we lived on my grandpa's ranch in Wyoming. So the smell of cow poop and barns smelled good to me, like home. Same for the smell of old house from my other grandparents' house in North Carolina. Do you think that as we get older our olifactory imprinting capacity is reduced?
