I know generalizations are bad to begin with, but what's with so many Republicans down south [of the Canadian border] being so ANGRY and irrational? Between all the talk of Obama being a "terrorist" and angry mobs at Republican rallies to ridiculous stuff like this ... wow ( Read more... )

Unfortunately, I think a lot of it comes down from tradition laid down by some of the first people to live in the Americas ... the Puritans. ::shudders::

The Puritans are often held up as what America is all about, that
people of faith came here to practice their religion in peace and
harmony. But think Salem to see where misguided faith can lead, where neighbors and friends (and in some cases relatives) had "witches" put on trial and then dunked in ponds
to drown or roasted over an open fire to the delight of the "good" people who loved God. The simple creed of fundamentalists is: I love
God and you don't, so you're going to hell and I'm not. What we have to keep saying to these people in this or any other election is just as simple: Keep your ass out of our politics.
