One of the reasons we decided to adopt Jackson was because we wanted to help Orpah stay active in his old age. I was delighted when I saw them wrestle for the first time.

I haven't been able to get into anything lately, which is unfortunate because my final packet of the semester is due soon. I've been slowly reading Autumn of the Patriarch for over a month. It's rather dense though the writing is good, of course, when I can get through it. I finished Anne Carson's novel-in-verse Autobiography of Red, which is a modern-day retelling of the Hercules and Geryon story. Hercules is cast as a slightly older, ignore-the-consequences rebel, to Geryon's naive and shy, um, dragon boy. Carson's word choices are wonderful and there are a lot of really superb images, 'parked cars nesting on their shadows' comes to mind now.

Oh, wow, what an excellently, fascinatingly wonderful entry!! (And that is NOT sarcastic!)

Your journal is a joy to read.

You even have FOOTNOTES! *falls over in a paroxysm of intellectual joy*

I think I tend to get carried away, especially since I added footnotes to my journal's repertoire. I pretend I'm powerless to stop it, which helps moderately. Anyway, there I go. I should have just said, "Thank you for the compliments. I do appreciate them."

Carried away? With being smart? *scoff* Not possible.

Intelligence is far too rare these days. I take great delight in finding it in your journal.
