Kaname's Character Information (This includes information from the storyline after Chapter 14. So, below I will summarize what will be applicable for this RP.)

Kaname is an ordinary sixteen year-old high school student, who has lived alone since her mother passed away four years ago. Unfortunately, she has strained relations with her mother's family, because her mother ran off with her father they could not receive her family's blessings for marriage. She lived with mother until she passed away four years ago. Following her mother's death, Kaname lived in America with her father and younger sister for one year. However, she chose to return to Japan and live by herself in an apartment. During all of this, she only received financial support from her family, no emotional support. The disapproval of her mother's actions rested now on Kaname.

She is one of the few surviving Whispereds, whose discovery led her to be targeted by a plethora of terrorist organizations. Whispered abilities grant her an inherent knowledge (but not necessarily understanding) of advanced mathematics and science. It is no surprise that she consistently achieves top scores in these subjects at school. Her abilities as a Whispered, however, have their limitations. She does not know the full extent of her abilities and sometimes enters a near-trance, in which she gains a complete understanding of Black Technology. A private military organization named Mithril assigned their operative Sagara Sousuke as Kaname's bodyguard, unbeknownst to her, under the guise as a transfer student to her school. Although he was exceptionally awkward as a civilian and caused a number of incidents while trying to protect Kaname, she quickly befriended him. At one point Sousuke attempted to explain the danger she was in, but she quickly brushed his warning off as a creative excuse for his extreme behavior. Still, she began to hear faint ripples of whispers, but only enough to where she thought she may have heard something. It was not until she was abducted after her plane was hijacked by a terrorist group during her class trip that the reality of her situation set in. Forced into a makeshift laboratory, she awoke on an examination table as her brain was gradually coaxed to release the flood of knowledge of black technology that had been with her since birth. The sensation was so overwhelming that Kaname was sent into a violent panic before being retrieved by Sousuke. During their escape, Kaname realized she understood how to maneuver the combat machine, which ran on black technology, and aided Sousuke in their escape by explaining its operational procedure. Once they successfully escaped, Kaname, dripping with exhaustion, fainted under the cloak of safety. When she awoke, however, she found herself in Discedo. She had faint recognition of once more being in a laboratory... once more laying on an examination table. Then, Kaname woke up in what seemed to be Purgatory.

Black Technology

In a nutshell, Black Technology is a military technology created by Whispereds. It covers: Advanced AI, mechanized infantry (specifically humanoid combat machines), electromagnetic active camouflage and fluidics control, exerting mechanical force against space with no observable physical interaction, cold fusion, et cetera.

Personality:

Kaname is a rather spunky sixteen year old, especially for Japanese standards. Unlike most of her peers, she never hesitates to speak her mind, or take any action she deems necessary given the situation. Largely due to her family situation, her behavior in the public and private realms is as different as night and day. While she is very strong, independent and mature, she keeps a strong guard up when around others. Although the high schooler has a very gentle and timid side to her, she only allows herself to reveal this when she is alone. This is not due to a concern over her image, but her lack of trust in even close friends - a reason, most likely, for never mustering up enough courage to accept someone as her boyfriend. Notably, she had become to grow fond of Sousuke after she realized that he only had her best interests in mind, but her heart had not yet unconditionally opened up to him before the kidnapping incident.

When dealing with a particularly annoying person, Kaname has an infamously short fuse. The better she knows the person, the more verbally and physically violent she tends to react. In fact, at school she is often seen wielding a harisen (a paper war fan) to keep those around her in check. This pairs pleasantly with her exceptional bravery in considerably dangerous circumstances. In spite of her aggressive nature, she does not hesitate to encourage and support her fellow classmates. In fact, there have been times when she has acted rather like a proper young lady and cooked a bento lunch for a close friend of hers if she senses he or she might need a pick me up. Moreover, Kaname will not passively stand by if she witnesses any bullying, be it friend or stranger. Partly due to her own personal vulnerability she harbors deep inside, she will not tolerate seeing the weaknesses of others be exploited.

Responsibility is another strong trait carried by the young high schooler. From a professional perspective, Kaname is both class representative and vice president. Taking these positions very seriously, she has quickly improved her leadership skills in addition to advancing her ability to interact with a variety of people. Even though she frequently juggles two part time jobs, time will always be appropriated to her positions at school, even at the expense of her free time. From a social perspective, she carries a deep responsibility for her friends. Often the first person to go to when in trouble, Kaname puts her best foot forward in helping her friends whenever they are in a tight spot. If she deems it necessary, she will put herself second and ask few questions. Thus far, this has not burned Kaname thanks to her near-infallible gut judgment.

On a lighter note, Kaname enjoys a plethora of hobbies that she manages to schedule into her daily routine. Cooking and baking act as an effective method of stress-relief, which often supplies her with a delicious treat to munch on, or a hearty breakfast to fuel her. She excels in the variety of sports she is able to play during her physical education classes; her nonpareil swimming and softball skills are especially noteworthy. As a result, Kaname enjoys a well-nourished and well-built physique that bolsters a lot of attention, albeit at a distance, from her male peers. Unlike many of her classmates that coo over Hello Kitty, this high schooler has found herself infatuated with Bonta-kun, a jolly teddy bear mascot for a local amusement park sporting a red bow-tie and a light cross-shaped scar on his cheek. Perhaps she is more drawn to this character because of his strong will - in addition to his cuddly personality, of course. It is not surprising, then, to see traces of Bonta-kun merchandise amidst her belongings, which have always provided her with a sense of normalcy in her teenage years.

Ultimately, Kaname Chidori is an average teenager whose exceptional drive steers her through her many responsibilities and hardships, all while greeting every day with a determined smile.

What your character can offer: Kaname's subconscious knowledge of Black Technology will be of huge interest for the right people with the right means (specifically scientists and military personnel). Specifically, she holds vast amounts of knowledge needed to build a superfluity of mechanized war machines, be it artillery, vehicles, ships or other specialized military technology. Outside of this, Kaname is a natural leader with impressive physical strength and adeptness. Not to mention, she is rather cunning and brave. Also, her resourcefulness is often useful as she is able to come up with solutions for problems ranging from wardrobe malfunctions to temporary substitutions for missing equipment, such as a tripod for a camera, on the spot with whatever is available to her.

What items will they be bringing with them? A paper clip, a rubber band, and a stick of chewing gum. Also, her school uniform and a small plushie Bonta-kun she had clipped to the waistline of her skirt.

Third-Person Sample:

Victory was in sight. With all of her planning, how could there be any other conclusion? As soon as the line up was decided, Kaname immediately set to analyzing her opponents and developing an attack plan for her team. Yes, it seemed overly competitive for a simple softball game, but what better venue than a P.E. class to release large amounts of the stress and aggravation resulting from all her classes?

It was down to the ninth inning, the game tied, and her team was last to bat. With Mizuki on second base, the next batter simply had to make a hit to allow Mizuki to reach third, thereafter Kaname would be last to bat and secure at least one point by allowing Mizuki to reach home base, which would win the game.

Ha! This is perfect! As long as we stick to the plan, we'll win this game. No problem...

Yet, as soon as Kaname had relaxed, Mizuki, who had little faith in the klutzy teammate on her last strike, launched into a full sprint to steal third base. Completely stunned to see this unfold as the pitcher for the opposing team spotted this and hurled the ball to the third baseman, Kaname shot up to her feet and shouted, "Mizuki! Just what the heck do ya think you're doing?! Get back! Get back to second!" Nevertheless, to her horror, she watched as her teammate was tagged out.

This was not a variable she had taken into consideration.

"Alright..." Kaname managed to mutter between gritted teeth. She braced her balled up fists on her hips in an attempt to channel her rage toward the game instead of the downtrodden Mizuki, who was trudging her way back to the team's makeshift dugout. "I'll just have to execute a more powerful hit," she mumbled to herself after Kyoko managed to finally make it to first base. Gauging the situation, Kaname whipped around and pointed directly at her disheartened teammates, "never lose hope! We aren't going down without a fight! Always remember: there are teams that come through in the very last second and overtake the game! This just gives us an opportunity to shine!"

Completely fired up, she gripped the bat and stepped onto the plate, wielding it as if it were a weapon. Okay. If Ichiro can deliver under pressure, so can I... She glanced back at her teammates, whose eyes were so openly filled with hope, and grinned reassuringly. More determined than ever not let them down, Kaname focused intently on the ball as the pitcher shifted it in her hand before winding up and hurling it toward her. Curve ball! She realized as her bat already connected with the ball, sending it over the pitcher's head and far into the outfield.

"GO GO GO," she yelled to Kyoko as they sprinted around the diamond. As soon as her foot connected with second base, Kaname darted her eyes around the field to assess the situation. Kyoko was almost to third base, but the outfielder was dangerously close to snatching the ball. No good! Mustering up every ounce of energy, she charged full-speed ahead to catch up to Kyoko, who just hit third base and began the stretch for home base, but the outfielder was already winding up to return the ball. As Kaname pivoted without a moment's pause past third base, the ball began to soar through the air - initiating a race between it and the base runners. "Kyoko, I'm behind you!" Kaname alerted her teammate as she rushed up behind her, all the while keeping the ball in her sight. There's a chance! "Slide into home base," Kaname instructed her in a hushed tone after leaning in as close as she could without causing a collision, matching the rhythm of their steps.

In the flash moment that the baseman caught the ball, Kaname charged aggressively toward her while Kyoko dropped down into a slide, leaving a trail of dust behind her. In an effort to not get run over, the baseman instinctively tagged Kaname. She was out. Before she was out, however, Kyoko was safe - scoring them the winning point. Momentarily stunned, the players stood still trying to absorb what had just happened - hesitant to suppose anything as they waited, unmoving, to hear the umpire's decision...

"Safe!"

First-Person Sample:

[The communicator flickers on to begin transmitting video of a teenage girl, with disheveled cyan hair and deeply distraught chestnut eyes, who is hurriedly scrutinizing the device.]

Huh... What is this thing?

[As she seems to fidget around with the equipment, it becomes apparent she has zero idea she's broadcasting video.]

It's blipping. Ugh! Is this a scanning device? A remote! Maybe a walkie talkie?

[Her eyes finally meet the camera lens and a realization flashes across her face, causing her eyes to narrow in hostility.]

...A video camera? Who is this?! What, are you some sort of perverted stalker that has a thing for recording videos of girls? Heh. Look, I'm not some guinea pig for you to experiment on. I'm sick of waking up repeatedly on lab tables! Next time it happens I'm gonna break your face! You-...Why did I assume there would be a next time?

[She grimaces visibly as she falls quiet - obviously mulling over her situation.]

I can barely remember what happened before I came here... Where was I? Something about my class...and a plane... A school trip? Wait...wasn't I kidnapped? But then... where is everyone else? Where's Sousuke? Wait, I shouldn't ask about him or anyone else if it might endanger them. After all, I still don't know what is going on...

Alright, fine. Do whatever you want, but I'm not staying stuck in this room! There's noises outside. I'm sure there's people around. I'll find out where I am and what I'm doing here. Have fun staring at an empty room, you jerk!

[The picture jolts around as the communicator drops onto the floor, showing only her feet walking away and off the screen.]
