I'm going to Sendai! I've never heard of it before, so that adds to the excitement. I'll be in Miyagi of the Touhoku region. My host mother's name is Ryoko Abe. I also have a host sister who is 14 and a host brother who is 16, like me. =) I don't know their names yet, though

i saw this post browsing through the friends list of nihongo_only, so i hope you don't mind!

last summer i stayed at a homestay in sendai and i absolutely loved it. there aren't a lot of foreigners there, but the people are also really nice, so there will be some brave enough to talk to you. i've found people in tokyo would rather just ignore you :/

there's also only ONE subway line, so it's extremely easy to get around. almost everything interesting is centralized.

and you should go north to yamagata when you get a chance. it's absolutely gorgeous.

Where did you stay in Sendai, if you don't mind me asking?

saiwai-chou. i'm not sure where exactly it is, the only two places i know of interest in the central part of sendai are kokubun-chou and kitayoban-chou.
