yunho finds new company for the lonely winter.

Yunho is studying works of literature in his room late at night once more, but his mind is filled with his fondest memory named Jaejoong. Thoughts of the delicate cat spirit leaves a smile on his lips and nearly lulls him to sleep when Taepoong begins to yap at the entrance, disrupting his peace.
The young samurai reprimands his large hound with annoyance, but the animal only looks at its master with blue eyes and then back at the closed door as though gesturing to it, telling him something. Yunho moves to the door and draws it open.
There is a woven basket waiting on his doorstep with no marks of ownership.
Yunho parts the dull coloured quilt slowly and uncovers a litter of three tiny kittens; their beady eyes studying the man and their twitching noses pink, but it is the colour of their coats that holds Yunho's attention. The tri-colour mix of black and shades of dark brown seem too familiar that his heartache becomes too hard to bear again.
He finds himself looking up at the darkness tonight, laying still on his bedding and wondering.
Two kittens lay curled up on his chest, rising and dropping from his breathing, while the last kitten buries itself by Yunho's side for warmth. Yunho feels its soft pointed ear gently with his fingers and the kitten purrs quietly; a sound which warms Yunho's heart, and he sleeps well throughout the night the first time since that day.

Changmin, the smallest but the most gluttonous of the three identical kittens, has lapped up all the milk in the saucer again, leaving none for its brothers. Yoochun and Junsu's sorrowful meows don't stop and Yunho laughs softly, rubbing their small heads lightly. He knows this for months now and pours them another saucer and leaves them on a table where Changmin is too small to jump to.
With the two kittens quiet and fed, Yunho settles on the floor and begins to have his own breakfast. He hasn't even eaten the first mouth when he hears a soft meow by his side. Changmin has its irresistable large pleading eyes looking at Yunho and it jumps onto Yunho's lap, small paw padding at Yunho's thighs and meowing sweetly. The man sighs softly and gives the small kitten a small piece of his fish which it devours, long tail swishing gladly.
As winter comes to an end, Yunho becomes less lonely with his new furry companions, but he never forgets Jaejoong. The missing piece in his heart is still lost.

The first day of spring arrives and being welcomed by dawn without his playful kittens is alarming to Yunho. Taepoong lies asleep by his side but his room is otherwise empty. He stumbles out of bed clumsily and rushes out from his room.
He calls out the names of his kittens, looking through every room upstairs and he is making his way downstairs when he hears a voice he knows too well speaking from the dining room which makes his heart stop. "Your appa is awake," the voice says.
The fear that he is dreaming disappears when he sees Jaejoong's amber eyes twinkle at him and his pink lips spread into the most wonderful smile Yunho has ever seen. He looks as beautiful as Yunho remembers.
"Jaejoong," Yunho whispers, his heartbeat is a stampede. He sees three children seated around the low table with tri-coloured ears and large dark eyes too similar to the ones his kittens have. Slowly, Yunho finally solves the puzzle in his head. He blinks with disbelief, mouth open.
"Come and have breakfast with the family, Yunho-ah," Jaejoong says and Yunho makes his way to Jaejoong and kissing the cat spirit hard on the mouth and holds him tight in his arms. Jaejoong laughs and strokes the human's dark hair lovingly as Yunho pours his heart and soul in confessing to his beloved as he didn't the first time they met and loved.
(Changmin eats Yunho's portion off the table.)
