Women's Lasers

Nov 19, 2011 00:11

So last night was a perfect episode of Parks & Recreation (or P-Rex, as Kristen DeSantos apparently calls it, which is just precious lol.) I absolutely loved the storyline of Andy trying to pick a class to attend and randomly stumbling upon Intro to Women's Lasers Studies. This show is so good to women. It makes me happy :)

And then Leslie and Ben... I can't even deal with these two and how perfectly imperfect they are in their flaws, but how perfectly perfect they are when they come together. That whole scene in the Smallest Park... Someone needs to just hand Amy Poehler an Emmy right now. The fact that she doesn't have one already just baffles me. I'm pretty sure I've watched that scene at least 20 times by now. All the feelings!

Now for life stuff! I'm back on 3rd shift until the end of March as a Temporary Supervisor, which is awesome! I love working 3rd shift. I get so much accomplished because I only have 4 people that I'm "supervising," so I don't really have all the constant interruptions that you have on 2nd (and more so on 1st.) It's really nice. Plus, I get to watch most of my TV shows when they air instead of having to either record them on my VHS (I'm really old-school lol) and watch them when I get home or wait until the next day and watch them online/ondemand. I'm still going to have to wait on Rizzoli & Isles and Top Chef, because I have to be at work by 10:45 and both shows end at 11, but most of my comedies I'm able to watch, and that makes me super super happy :D

I really need to start writing down my dreams again. I usually remember most of my dreams, but if I don't write down key elements to them, the memory usually fades within a few hours. And I've been having some crazy ones lately. I just woke up from one where there was a high school swimming pool, and I was trying to lay pipes and plant flowers to recreate the background of some picture from my childhood. And then we were in a bowling alley and the cast of It's Always Sunny was there and I had to navigate around all the people sitting in a booth to go answer the door. And there was another dream where Adam Scott worked for me and was testing Trilogy ventilators (which we manufacture) and he was really good at it, but then we started having an affair and I was nervous that someone would find out and he'd be fired. But I was more worried about losing our most efficient worker than him as a person being out of a job. And my dad was a pastor in one of those dreams, or maybe a separate one. I wake up often during my dreaming. Oh, and I had a really weird one the other night... Marissa convinced me to marry Doug (her husband - I was the maid of honor at their wedding) and then divorce him because there was a loophole in the Catholic faith where if both parties had been divorced, then they could get married in the church. But it was this whole production of a wedding for me and Doug, where at least half of the attendees knew I was gay. And the pastor lady blessed an extra set of rings and then asked who'd be keeping them. This annoying woman who worked for me on 3rd shift in August stood up and said she'd be holding on to the rings. And then I drove home from the wedding with my parents and I had to sneak into the car so the Catholic church people wouldn't become suspicious. On the drive, my mom told me that I had to start tanning and only look for Mexican sperm when I decide to have kids. I'm not sure what type of scheme she was cooking up, but it sounds... interesting.

And now for another survey thing that I hijacked from tumblr. I really wish I was more proficient in using that site. But for now, I'll just follow Parks/Amy Poehler fans and squee over their pictures/analyses/links, and take "Ask Posts" and transfer them over here and post them as surveys... This one is "Unpopular Opinions"

1. A selection of television programs you do not care for.
Two and a Half Men, Seinfeld, Millionaire Matchmaker, Real Housewives of Anywhere, most reality shows, Whitney, CSI: Miami, Law & Order: CI

2. A selection of musical artists you do not care for.
With a few exceptions, I have a general disinterest for most of the musical guests that have been on SNL recently. So, it's not that I necessarily dislike them, I just don't care. Mostly like hipster music, like Foster the People. So unbelievably indifferent to them. I generally only like that kind of music if they have put out a song that reminds me of one of my OTPs. I can't really think of any musical artists I really don't like. Nickleback.

3. A selection of celebrities you couldn’t care less about.
This list is extremely long and is comprised of mostly A-listers. There are some exceptions to this, like Julianne Moore and Jennifer Aniston, but I overwhelmingly do not care about A-list celebrities and "movie stars." My favorite people are usually TV actors, Broadway actors, and comedians, most of whom fall between B- and D-list.

4. A hobby you “don’t get”.
Knitting. I guess I get it, but I just know that I would be terrible at it and it would really frustrate me if I tried doing it.

5. A habit you find disgusting.
I wouldn't say I find this disgusting, but just really annoying. When people wash their hands and don't completely dry them and then touch other things or shake your hand or something. (Mike, I'm looking at you...lol)

6. Something in school you really liked doing that everyone else bitched over.
Pretty much everything? I loved school so much! Some days I'll see kids on a school bus on their way to school and I'll get slightly envious. I'm really weird.

7. Your favorite household chore.
Cleaning the lint filter in the dryer. I love it. It's kind of an OCD. I also enjoy dusting. Making dirty surfaces clean.

8. Popular video games that make you go “meh”.
All of them? I don't care for video games, unless they are Supernintendo/N64 games having to do with Mario, Donkey Kong, WWF wrestling, or Power Rangers. And if you'd count The Sims as a video game, then you could say I love that, too. But other than that, I really don't care.

9. PC or MAC?
I've attempted using other people's MACs and I've hated them. They are so confusing and I hate the way they're set up. I will stick with my PC.

10. A sport you don’t like, for whatever reason.
All of them? I really don't like sports. I enjoy playing some sports, like softball. And I enjoy watching softball tournaments if I'm sitting in the bleachers waiting to play in one. But I find sports so boring.

11. A sport you really like, for whatever reason.
Softball. I played from 4th grade to 12th grade, and I really miss it. Every time I drive passed a softball/baseball field, I get nostalgic and wish I could play again. There are leagues I could join, like my one friend is on a GLBT league, but they practice while I'm at work, so it never works out.

12. Television programs you love but have gotten shit for liking.
No one's ever really given me shit for my TV shows. There was a very intense debate between me and my 8th grade Shop teacher, Mr. Griffith, about which was the better show: Friends or Drew Carey. Obviously I was rooting for Friends. It went on all semester long, with each of us trying to gain supporters for our sides of the debate. And he even signed my yearbook with something about Drew Carey being better. (Yes, I had my teachers sign my yearbooks. I told you I loved school.)

13. Musical artists you love but have gotten shit for liking.
Anyone in the country genre. I always get shit for liking country music. And it really pisses me off. My former roommates once tried setting me up with one of their friends who was at this party at our apartment and we were really hitting it off. Then I mentioned that I liked country music, and instead of just saying she didn't care for it, she said, "Oh, we'll change that" or something to that effect. It pissed me off so much that I stopped talking to her for the rest of the party. I know not everyone likes country, but I really really do. So back the fuck off. (I may be a tad bit defensive about this...) Oh. Also. Celine Dion.

14. A hobby you have/find interesting that other people bother you over/make fun of.
TV obsession. Fan fic obsession.

15. A habit you have that other people bug you over.
Picking at my lips, I guess?

16. Something in school you hated doing and it felt like everyone else loved.
I don't think anyone else loved it, but I hated swimming in gym class. You'd have to get your hair wet, and then wash it afterwards in that shitty shower area with its terrible water pressure. And then you'd have to change in front of everyone and have everyone change in front of you, which for a lesbian is just uncomfortable because you are hyper-aware of the fact that there are half-naked girls all around you and you absolutely cannot let on that you might be interested in that. And you have to do all this in like 6 minutes, so you never have time to dry your hair so you drip water all the way to your next class and you have to sit through that next class all uncomfortable and weird because there's no way you got yourself completely dry so your shirt and pants are sticking to you in weird places. I hated it so much.

17. The household chore that makes you want to shoot your own face off.
Taking permanent press clothes and towels out of the dryer. The permanent press needs to be folded "just so" and it's annoying, especially since none of my clothes require this; it's just my parents' clothes. And the towels are always filled with static electricity.

18. A selection of video games that you enjoy that perhaps you really shouldn't.
I guess it's a little ridiculous that I still get worked up when I'm playing the the Power Rangers game or WWF No Mercy and things don't go the way I want. My dad has had to tell me to keep it down because I yell at Megazord when it doesn't get up fast enough, for instance.

19. A celebrity crush that maybe even you don’t understand.
One of my celebrity crushes? I understand all of my celebrity crushes, otherwise I wouldn't be crushing on them. As for other people's crushes, I guess I don't really understand Robert Pattinson.

20. Free rant on whatever grinds your gears at the moment.
I really hate large paperclips. And colorful paperclips, you know, the ones that are coated in like rubber or something. They really annoy me. And for some reason, when people turn papers in to me that are paperclipped, they ALWAYS use those types of paperclips. So I have an abundance of them on my desk at work and I just hate them. I also hate when people take my pens. I have a very specific type of pen that I use. It's an electric blue color, has a rubber grippy thing, and the cap makes a snapping noise when it's on the back end of the pen. I have an OCD with making that snapping noise, which is why I like using these pens. My dad used to bring them home from work, and I would steal them from him. Then people at work kept stealing them from my desk and then my dad's work stopped buying them or something, and I couldn't find them anywhere. Then Mike and I stopped in a RiteAid in Annapolis, MD when we were there for a Chely Wright concert last year and I found them. So I bought 32 of them. People at work are starting to take them again, and it makes me so mad. It also makes me mad when people leave their crappy generic blue pens on my desk. I never know who left the pen there, which means I don't know whose hands have touched that pen, and I definitely do not want to touch something after certain people there. I also hate when people borrow my stapler or my chair and don't return them to my desk. Someone stole the stapler I was supplied and I was never able to find it, so I went out and bought my own stapler. It went missing one day and after I tracked it down, I put a sign on the side of it that says "This belongs on Lisa's desk. Please return after using!" The last two days, I've reached over to use it, and it hasn't been there. I've found it on a couple of the desks surrounding me. So I added another note, next to the first one, that says "I don't care if this seems bitchy. It's common courtesy. Thanks!! :)" And that is what's grinding my gears currently.

Well, that's all I've got. I am super hungry. I haven't eaten in like 16 hours. I'm going to go find food.
