I've been on a little bipolar roller coaster (bi-coastal roller Poehler? I'm picturing Amy Poehler rollerblading between New York and LA...) this past week. I hung out with Mike, Ben, Cassi, & Jim on Sunday and had a great time. I seriously think the best way to describe any time I hang out with them is "it's a celebration every time we link up." And I was getting a shower before I went over there and I was just so happy that I was going to be spending time with my friends that I was dancing around in the shower to Whitney Houston (although, bummer about that...)
And then work just brought me down. I'm not even going to get into that, though. It was raining this morning when I left work and rain actually makes me happy. But to be honest, I think the reason it makes me happy is because sometimes I like to wallow in whatever bad mood I'm in. And the dreary weather gives me an excuse to be gloomy. Anyway, I decided to drive around in the rain and sing along to the Next to Normal soundtrack because that's what kind of mood I was in. I stopped at Panera to get a bagel and on my way in, I noticed the same car in the parking lot that was there last week with the HRC bumper sticker. When I got inside, I was trying to discreetly look around and see if I recognized any of the same people as were there last week. None of them were familiar to me, but then I noticed the girl who was in front of me in line. She was probably in her late 30s, faux-hawk, feminine features but butch styling (which I find very attractive.) And she also had on the exact same pair of purple Converse shoes that I was wearing. It made me smile. And I would have used that to strike up a conversation (to converse about Converse lol), but I was running really late last night and didn't have time to wash my hair so it was in a messy ponytail and I didn't bother with makeup either. So I just kept to myself in the event that we crossed paths again at this Panera. I was behind her in line, so I don't think she noticed me. And then morning traffic gave me a bit of road rage. And then I watched Top Chef from last night and Lindsay & Paul advanced to the finale, so that made me super happy. I don't know...
Anyway, here is another tumblr survey that I'm going to post on here.
1) Put your iTunes on shuffle. Give me the first 6 songs that pop up.
"Popular" from Wicked 3/7/2007 - Julia Murney & Kendra Kassebaum
"I'm OK" - Christina Aguilera
"Two of a Kind" from The Wild Party - Raymond Jaramillo McLeod & Jennifer Cody
"I'm Going in for Love" from You Never Know - Kristin Chenoweth
"I'm Not That Girl" from Wicked 7/15/2004 - Kristin Chenoweth, Idina Menzel & Norbert Leo Butz
"Going Under" - Evanescence
And because that one was Broadway-heavy, here is my Zune on shuffle since it has some stuff that's not on my iTunes:
"Leather" - Tori Amos
"Get Naked (I Gotta Plan)" - Britney Spears
"Come Home Soon" - SheDaisy
"Milord" - Edith Piaf
"Damsel in Distress" - Idina Menzel
"I Have A Love" from West Side Story - Idina Menzel
2) If you could meet anyone on this earth, who would it be?
Amy Poehler
3) Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 23, give me line 17.
"A strip about as high as my head and half around the room." -The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman
4) What do you think about most?
TV characters and fan fiction
5) What does your latest text message from someone else say?
"I enjoyed the Blossom shout-out" from Jack
6) Do you sleep with ____ or without ______ on?
...clothes? I sleep in comfy jammy pants and whatever work shirt I wore that day
7) What's your strangest talent?
I can write my cursive writing backwards
8) Girls.... (finish the sentence); Boys.... (finish the sentence)
Girls rule; Boys drool. People are people.
9) Ever had a poem or song written about you?
Yes. In 11th grade, John Rodgers sang me a song that went like this:
Lisa has shoes with flames on it;
Wouldn't she look good in a baby blue bonnet?
He now has a
CD available on CDbaby.com. That song is not on it... :)
10) When is the last time you played the air guitar?
No idea.
11) Do you have any strange phobias?
Red lipstick and nail polish. This is a legitimate phobia of mine. It's a good thing that I don't date (or drunkenly make out with) women who routinely wear red lipstick. Even if my mom is wearing red lipstick and leans in to give me a kiss on the cheek, I get feelings of anxiety. I think it's because of it possibly transferring onto me. With the red nail polish, it's not as bad because it's dry and has no possibility of transferring on to me. But if I'm around someone painting their nails red, there are also feelings of anxiety. I have a kindergarten "About Me" poster that tells me this phobia was present at 5 years old. No clue what the basis is...
12) Ever stuck a foreign object up your nose?
Probably a pencil or something. Nothing I can specifically recall.
13) What's your religion?
I'm agnostic. I have conflicting feelings about religion. I don't support organized religion, but I don't really know what I believe. Click on the "religious ponderings" tag if you want to read more.
14) If you are outside, what are you most likely doing?
Walking to and from my car.
15) Do you prefer to be behind the camera or in front of it?
Behind
16) Simple but extremely complex. Favorite band?
I never know if this question wants me to specifically list a "band" because, as I've stated before, I much prefer solo artists to bands. My current favorite band is Barcelona.
17) What was the last lie you told?
I lie on a daily basis when people ask me "Hey, how are you?" and I reply with a huge smile and exclaim, "Good!" Because I am very rarely "Good!" Perhaps I don't give people enough credit, but that phrase is so commonplace in human interaction and very rarely do I think anyone actually cares how you're doing, enough that they want to hear about why things aren't going well. If a good friend asks me how I'm doing, I will give them an honest answer if I'm not doing fine. But no coworker or acquaintance who asks that question wants to be burdened with your shit.
18) Do you believe in karma?
Yes.
19) What does your URL mean?
This LJ username is from Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back and 77 is my lucky number. My tumblr URL (
countrylobster.tumblr.com) is from the Upright Citizens Brigade TV show. They had this one sketch with this giant lobster named Mogomra the Country Lobster. It had a straw hat on, which is what made it country, I guess. But I was watching the DVD commentary for that episode and they were trying to remember where that idea had come from and Amy Poehler was like, "In the stage show, I came out in a lobster costume and I think I made a mistake and called myself a Country Lobster. It sounds like a typical Poehler malapropism..." I just thought it was funny so I made that my username. The usernames I choose for sites are usually always related to whatever show I'm watching at the time. There are about 5 websites that I signed up for a few years ago that have the username "CreggsList" because I was rewatching West Wing at the time.
20) What is your greatest weakness; your greatest strength?
Buying TV on DVD; My work ethic, probably
21) Who is your celebrity crush?
Right now, it's Sasha Alexander.
22) Have you ever gone skinny dipping?
Nope.
23) How do you vent your anger?
Blasting DMX. Writing on here.
24) Do you have a collection of anything?
Oh, I don't know...
25) Do you prefer talking on the phone or video chatting online?
I've never video chatted online, but I hate talking on the phone. I prefer text message if I have to talk to someone not in person.
26) Are you happy with the person you've become?
I don't know if I even know who I've become. I'm not "there yet," not do I know where "there" is.
27) What's a sound you hate; sound you love?
Styrofoam; Angie Harmon's voice.
28) What's your biggest "what if"?
What if I had stayed at WVU. What if I had applied myself and done better in my Forensic Science classes the first semester instead of wallowing in my depression and letting it affect my grades. I still wouldn't have gotten great grades, but I could have at least gotten Cs in the science classes. And math comes really easily to me, so I know I could have gotten an A in that. But instead I dropped Biology, failed Chemistry and got a C in Statistics because I just didn't care about anything. What if I had switched majors to Criminology in the second semester. That field of study really interested me and I was so excited about it the summer leading up to college. I could have explored that interest without the hard sciences (because I'm really not good at really detailed scientific stuff.) What if I had done all that, allowing me to keep my grant that was helping pay for out-of-state tuition, allowing me to continue studying at WVU, allowing me to keep seeing Jill. I had the beginnings of a relationship with someone I really liked. Probably more than I've liked anyone since. And I'm still hung up on the "what if" of her. ...that was more than I intended on saying about this...
29) Do you believe in ghosts? How about aliens?
I don't have any strong opinions either way, really.
30) Stick your right arm out; what do you touch first? Do the same with your left arm.
Right arm: couch; Left arm: I can't reach it from where I'm sitting, but the first thing I would touch if I kept going would be the TV.
31) Smell the air. What do you smell?
I don't have the sense of smell.
32) What's the worst place you have ever been to?
The Carter Hotel in NYC.
33) Choose East Coast or West Coast?
"Here I come, straight out of the East Coast, son. Don't let my size fool ya, just watch as I school ya. Represent UCB and the Improv Olympic. My choice is specific, my scene-work terrific. My writing is tight and it's bright and prolific. I make vicious hits like Tony Soprano, not cheap shiznit like Corky Romano. I don't read cue cards; I memorize my lines while you LA babies cry, 'I hate winter time!' So don't be forlorn while you're home watching porn. I'm chillin in St. Barts with my pimp daddy Lorne!" ...I felt that was a necessary way to answer that question...

Yes. And yes. I flipped my car over and it landed on its roof. I came away with a tiny bruise on my lip from the airbag and a small scratch on my hand from the broken window glass lying on the street when I was getting out of the car.
41) What was the last book you read?
The last book I actually completed was "The Silent Girl" by Tess Gerritsen. Last book I've been in the process of reading is "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)" by Mindy Kaling. Then I got distracted by the shitload of DVDs I ordered.

Save the dog.
72) You are at the doctor’s office and she has just informed you that you have approximately one month to live. a) Do you tell anyone/everyone you are going to die? b) What do you do with your remaining days? c) Would you be afraid?
I would tell my family and my close friends. I would spend as much time as I could with those people. I would tie up any loose ends I have with anyone. Anything I do beyond that, I guess would kind of depend on my physical capabilities and why exactly I'm dying. I don't think I'd be afraid.
73) You can only have one of these things; trust or love.
Trust, I guess.
