1: Apart from tumblr/livehournal, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I assume this means what non-internet-related things do I like to do... Hang out with my favorite group of friends at the coffee shop they own or at any of their houses and just relax.
2: Name a favorite of each: food, drink, color.
Various cheeses, water, purple.
3: If you married rich and your spouse gave you $100,000 a week, what would you spend it on?
Well, we're going to set aside the notion that this is how one would compensate a stripper for services rendered or a child for doing chores, neither of which is a dynamic I would seek out in a spouse. But I would give the same proportion of my income to the charities I currently support, probably attend a lot more concerts, travel, buy shoes (because I really like shoes.)
4: Name a favorite of each: book, movie, tv show.
Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, Clue, Arrested Development.
5: If you were given the opportunity to spend 48 hours with absolutely anyone (living or dead), who would you spend it with and what would you do?
You didn't limit the number of people to one, so I'm going to take the opportunity to spend 24 hours with Gilda Radner and Amy Poehler, and we would raid the costume department at Studio 8H and we would reenact our favorite sketches from SNL. And then I would spend 24 hours with Terri Clark and Jill Hennessy, and they would show me some cool places in Canada and then they would get out their guitars and we would all sing together.
6: Name a LEAST favorite of each: food, drink, color.
Lettuce, iced tea, red.
7: What do you spend most of your money on?
Food, probably. But non-essentials... TV on DVD.
8: What kind of underwear do you prefer wearing?
I don't have a preference, really. I don't like thongs. I guess probably bikini cut?
9: Name a LEAST favorite of each: book, movie, tv show.
50 Shades of Grey, The Break Up, Two and a Half Men.
10: If you were sat on a plane beside your favorite celebrity, what would you do?
I would probably just say at the beginning of the flight something like, "Hey. So, to get this out of the way, you're Amy Poehler and you're a huge inspiration to me. I just wanted to let you know that. And now I will leave you to enjoy your flight in peace." And then if she wanted to make small talk, I would engage in polite conversation and not gush like a fan girl, even though internally, that is probably what would be happening lol
11: What is the strangest thing you have in your room? (You are not allowed to explain why you own it.)
A unicorn big enough to sit upon.
12: What is a weird habit you have, or people have told you have. (Weird, not bad. No nail biting or any of that nonsense.)
I tap my fingers on the keyboard as if I were playing the drums.
13: What would you consider to be the biggest insult to yourself?
That I'm boring.
14: What are five things you absolutely have to have in your dream house?
A piano, a swimming pool with a deck, a bar in the finished basement, a white room (which is a sort-of inside joke that I won't explain in detail, but basically the walls, carpet and furniture is all white, and no smurfs are allowed lol), high ceilings.
15: If you could be reincarnated as any animal, which would you chose and why?
I'd want to be Bass Isles, or rather a domesticated African Spurred Tortoise because I enjoy strawberries and Maura Isles lol
16: Which band (current or past) would you want to go on tour* with? (*Travel with, not preform with.)
Terri Clark
17: Name a favorite of each: band, album, song.
Terri Clark, Brandi Carlile's "Bear Creek" album, "Ghost in My Head" or "Handsome Women" by Jill Hennessy (I can't pick a favorite, but they're both quite high on my list.
18: Why is your favorite band your favorite?
I always have to specify that I prefer solo artists to bands (even though Terri does have a band.) But anyway, Terri Clark is my favorite musician because she is talented, funny, an amazing lyricist, treats her fans very well, stands up for things she believes in... but most of all, because I grew up listening to her music. It's the same dynamic as Amy Poehler refers to when she talks about growing up watching Eddie Murphy: "whoever you like when you're 13, you know, you love forever." I was also really big into Reba at the same time, and I still love her, too. But I connect so much more with Terri's music and her outlook on life. It's just great to have someone like that to look up to and I am so grateful that she exists.
19: How many concerts have you attended? Which was your favorite? Least favorite? If none, who do you want to see live the most?
We're not going to count the Sharon, Lois & Braham concerts I went to as a child, nor the Gordon Lightfoot concert I remember my parents taking me to. Also not counting Broadway shows or comedy shows (which would significantly raise this number.) Just regular concerts: 30. Favorite was Brandi Carlile's show I just went to for her Bear Creek album. Close second, the concert at Terri Clark's Fan Club Party last month. Least favorite was the Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney & Gretchen Wilson concert in 2005. Heinz Field is a terrible venue where you sit in bleachers and can't really see anything and get beer spilled on you by drunken idiots who are only there because Kenny Chesney is somehow an acceptable form of country music. And all you wanted to do was come see Gretchen Wilson because her voice makes you smile and she's so fucking pretty, but you can barely hear her over the aforementioned drunken idiots. And you're also there with your friend and her now ex-husband who was such an asshole. And you leave before Kenny Chesney even comes on because you just can't deal with it anymore. Or something...lol
20: What is one of your favorite song lyrics? (Who is it by?)
i'm beyond your peripheral vision / so you might want to turn your head / 'cause some day you might find you are starving / and eating all of the words you just said
-ani difranco
21: Who do you ship?
Specifics can be found in
this tag, but right now, my main ships are Rizzoli/Isles, Frost/Frankie, Angela/Rondo lol, Dwight/Angela (because I'm rewatching The Office right now.) Expect Ben/Leslie to come back once Parks is back. I just haven't been engaged in that relationship recently.
22: What band merch do you own? If any, whose is it and when did you get it? If none, whose do you wish you owned?
Oh goodness... I own a ridiculous amount of band merchandise. Obviously, I'm not counting CDs that I've purchased from shows/websites. I'll just list the non-music things.
Terri Clark - 6 t-shirts, 2 hoodies, magnet, keychain, poster from the fan club party.
Brandi Carlile - 2 t-shirts, 2 hoodies
KT Tunstall - 1 hoodie
Uh Huh Her - 1 t-shirt
Reba - 2 t-shirts, 1 book (Reba: My Story)
Chely Wright - 1 Wish Me Away t-shirt (part of my package for funding the documentary through IndieGoGo), 1 Like Me t-shirt, 1 Like Me hoodie. (I specified these since they're not really "band merch.") 1 book (Like Me: Confessions of a Heartland Country Singer)
Lady Gaga - 1 t-shirt
Britney Spears - 1 t-shirt, 1 hoodie (Femme Fatale tour)
Willie Nelson - 1 bandana, 1 poster
Martina McBride - 2 t-shirts
Gretchen Wilson - 1 t-shirt
Amanda Palmer - 1 hoodie
23: How big is it.
I'm mostly concerned with whether or not the appropriate amount of time is spent discussing Darfur.
24: How did you learn of the band that is currently your favorite?
My parents always had Y108 (local country station) on in the car and whenever we had a radio on. So that's where my love of all '90s country music comes from. And I have always admired women from as far back as I can remember, so that's where my specific love of female country singers comes from. So how I learned of Terri Clark was probably in my parents' car in elementary school and thinking "I really like her voice."
25: What celebrity do you idolize the most?
Amy Poehler. I've been filling this out for a couple days (because I am very easily distracted) and this was going to be my answer anyway, but then the Smart Girls youtube channel posted their first "Ask Amy" video and it just solidified her as one of my favorite human beings in existence, ever. She is such an empowering role model for women of all ages.
