I read both the Naipaul books while I was in college (for pleasure, not for class) and really enjoyed them. I read Wide Sargasso Sea more recently - although not a fun read, it is quite good. The entire book can be read as a metaphor for colonialism.

Lord Kitchener is amazing!!!
His lyrics get rather naughty! really fun to listen to.
