Just got back from a totally relaxed time in Finland, travelling in and to Helsinki, Tampere, Jyvaskyla and Pihtipudas. In the latter we stayed in a cottage on an island in a forest. That vinyl sounds great! The most I have of that eastern folky stuff is probably Black ox orkestrar and they are from Canada mostly! But I do love it and allot of music that I'm listenening too recently seems to have been inspired by eastern folk.
What were Traktor and Moskva like? as a lover of his films I'd be interested in what his designs are like!

Anyway, Traktor is seen as a bit corny by Finns. You sit on hay bales or around real rusty tractos and the walls are all covered in farming or Soviet memorabilia. But it's fun and the food is excellent.
Moskva is very basic, but it's based on the design of a real Soviet era bar - just wood and corrugated iron, with vodka and beer. All of his bars have huge photos of Matti Pellonpaa on the walls - he died of drink so no wonder eh!
Try and go there - you will love it. Perhaps come to the summer cottage sometime with Krista and your boy - you can swim and row in the lake!
