I know! They were born about a week apart, so I always know that I'm going to be very busy the first part of June. I used the Wilton tip for making basket weave to do the bricks. It was tedious, but I think it turned out really cute.

My icing has to withstand the high heat and humidity of my area. I experiment with different types. It usually holds up pretty well. It's a twist of the Wilton buttercream recipe.

Interesting...would you be willing to share your recipe? We can be high heat and humidity here too.

It's basically the Wilton recipe, but I add my own flavorings to it. I've worked on it for years getting it just right.

wait so you did the backyardigans cake too?? i don't know what i was thinking but i didn't think that was one of yours.

kim! i just saw a backyardigans cake posted on one of my baby boards that was done at a bakery that didn't look nearly as good as yours! probably didn't taste as good either ha.

quit your job and do cakes full time! you have so much talent!! ok so maybe don't quit your job yet but you should seriously consider doing more cakes!

LOL! Yes, I did that cake too. The mom sent me a picture of the cake she wanted and I just went from there. It's probably the same cake.

I would love to make cakes full time, but it is scary to take that leap of faith. I like doing a few a year for friends and family....but would love to have a full scale place. I've had this idea for years. I want to open a cafe, but in the middle of the cafe, I want to have a huge window. People could sit and eat in the cafe while watching cakes being assembled and decorated through the glass. I just don't think that it would go over well in Waco, TX!
