I've been at the hospital twice this week, initially for general flu-like symptoms. Spent all night Sunday and left Monday morning with a "it's a bug, not flu, but take antibiotics, drink fluids, and you're okay ( Read more... )

Yeah, but it could have been worse. Dad's gotten by for over 20 years, least I can do is follow his and Mom's example for how to deal with this.

I've been trying to insert humor into every hole-poking experience, it seems to be working so far. I'm apprehensive about my next self-test, but not dreading it.

I'm very sorry to hear about your diagnosis but I'm glad you're all right. Seems like things went about as well as they could have given the circumstances (frat boy medics aside).

From what I hear, one gets used to the finger lancets pretty quickly. Good luck.

The cool thing is my glucometer doesn't require blood from the finger tip, there's a host of areas I can use. The fleshy part of the thumb hurts less than a finger, although getting enough blood out of it seems to be the trick.
